Wrap it in a towel or rag and use vice grips. Have someone hold the shaft while turning (God that sounds sick:))

A hacksaw was the only way I could get mine off. That was a huge PITA!

Will The knob def. twist off with the vice grips?
im ****** that the hacksaw technique may be the only way to go

It's definetley a PITA, but it will twist off. Just turn it counter clock wise as hard as you can.

i tried the towel and vice grips method and still jacked up the knob. i read somewhere that if you can wrap a towel around it and take two boards and sandwich the knob, then hold the boards together w/ c-clamps, that'll give you enough leverage to twist it off. i dunno, just rip it off and get a better aftermarket one!;)

I took mine off the car, wrapped the knob in a kitchen towel, then lowered the front tire of my car onto the knob. I stuck a long screwdriver threw the hole and twisted. No problem. Make sure the knob is well wrapped and is fully under the tires. If it slips it could hurt the leather covering of the knob.

I used a rotozip and chopped the puppy off. then again, I did pop in a SMC short shifter and momo knob. nothing to lose

I used the towel and vice grips method. The reason its so hard to get off is because there is glue in there ............you just have to twist really hard.
