How do i convince my friend, who's a girl, not to get the new GXE? She's cool enough not to get plastic hubcaps and drive a 5spd.

probably the best (and only) way to convince someone to buy any particular car is to have them drive it. drive the GXE first, then drive a SE down the same path. if money is the concern, remind her that a car is not just a means of transportation, but also an investment. you wouldn't pay less for a stock/bond that will have the least amount of return, so why do the same thing w/ a car?

they are seemingly rare, like the SE-R.

that completely depends on the dealership. but if she opts for a stick (savings of ~$1000), and knows how work a deal..she can get one for $1500-$2500 more than a GXE. again, drive 'em both. that'll be the deciding factor in 78% of buyers decisions!
