: New SR20 Forum registration policy

I have activated a 3 day waiting period for new registrations. When people register, they now have a 3 day period in which they can't send PMs or post anywhere except in "New Members" (formerly "Newbie Information").

After 3 days, they are automatically made into regular users.

This will reduce/eliminate impulse and post-ban registrations, and give people time to search around and not feel so compelled to just post right away.

This is just the beginning. The forum is going to get better.

My other forum started doing that too. Now they have it so that you have to be friends with someone on the forum already, and if you act stupid both people get banned.

Yeah the admin went through and banned a bunch of people and deleted unactive users accounts. He removed over 600 people I think. Now if you don't post a least once a month you are deleted automatically. It's a local board and the cops sign up and read it to find out where things will be happening, so now if they don't post they'll get deleted.

Are you asking about the Amin deleting people or the cops signing on to find out what's happening when and where? Either way the answer is yes.

If you only knew the problems that it has caused.

Nearly 2 years ago, I thought it would be smart to "clean up" and delete some old accounts that were inactive for a long time. To this day, I regret the decision. I will never do that. If you go back and look through old posts from 2000 and 2001 you will find a number of posts by "Guest" which took the place of the deleted users. I hate that!

Yeah I've noticed that before while searching here. The forum that I'm talking about is just a local forum for all kinds of cars. There is little if any, technical discussion that would matter down the road. At the time he deleted inactive users he purged alot of the older threads and totally deleted them.
