I went out to my car this morning to start it, a 92 sentra and it started weak. I thought it was a dead battery. Later I started it at work and same thing. So i drove to my other job to take some meter readings. When i whent to start it again nothing at all happened. Good power from the battery, but no noise or clicking what so ever. So i went ahead a push started it , it started O.K., but when i slowed down to a stop it died almost instantly, and would not start again. Does anybody have a clue what is going on.:confused:

I had a similar type problem it, i looked undernieth the car and there the alternator belt was my alternator had actually fallen off but hopefully that didnt happen to you but check underneith your car, bring it to you local shop and see if they have a machine to test your alternator that's my guess, your alternator is probably bad because when your alternator goes you can actually drive the car for a little while but it will die out eventually. good luck!

I thought about that to, but the alternator is putting out 14.4 at idle, plus I have a deep cycle optima battery. Anything else I should look at. Thanx

The bolts that hold the alternator on just snapped in half, and off came the alty!!!!

thats exactly what happened to me, i had to drill them out of the alternator one actually snapped into the alternator housing. Man did that suck.

Another thing I would look at is the starter, when mine when bad the last few starts where very long and it didnt sound good and than when it went the car wouldnt turn over at all, one way to check that would be to hit the starter with a hammer and have someone try to start the car and it should start if its the starter or atleast try to. That would be my second best guess.

actually nevermind that is wierd that after you push started it, it died and wouldnt even start at all but it couldn't hurt to check, sorry man but thats damn wierd.

I also tried to jumpstart it with a battery charger, no luck their either, any other ideas:( :confused:

i would have to concur that it is most likely your starter......mine did essentially the same thing the first time it went. However, that doesn't explain why it died, so i could be wrong.

Is it possible that the starter froze up (It was raining alot the night before and ran through a few puddles), and gear pinion didn't retract so when i am at idle the load from seized starter stalls the engine at idle?????:confused:
