Hmm, get XL. not like you'll be wearing it other than for racing. If its a little too big, its ok :biggthump

Never, ever skimp on safety equipment. Look for a JHC or JIC (not sure of the brand) motorcycle helmet. Autocrossers use them and they seem pretty good. They should be around $80 or so.

How much is your head worth?

And, the "get a XL" advice is the stupidest advice I've ever heard. Test-fit a helmet first, to make sure it fits. You'll know when it fits by the cheekpads: when you try to move the helmet on your head, the cheekpads should be tight enough that your cheeks move with them.

Yeah, now that i think about it, that was pretty dumb advice.

lol yea the helmet should be snug on your dome.
ebay has good price on arai and shoei helmets. they have measurment charts like measuring your head for a fitted ball cap.

you need to test fit the helmet like they said. if it bounces around and is just held on by the strap, it won't do as much good

I use a SA2000 G-force open face. It was less than $150 new and can be used for any sort of autoracing.

Go to Racerwholesale.com They have a section on measuring your head. It worked great for me. I got my helmet from them for less than 100 too.

This is pretty much what I use for drag racing. It does the job and I can see fine with it.

HJC

I have a HJC CL10 I used for karting back in the day, I think the new CL11 is pretty much the same but it is snell 2000 approved. It is pretty inexpensive and a popular choice, might want to check it out.
