: Bondo Removal?? is it possible?
sr20sentra91 12-02-2004, 11:24 PM when my brother bought his car, all the moldings and everything that goes down the side of the car is all bondod (i guess its suspose to have the shaved look) and we were just wondering if anyone has heard of a way to remove it withouth messing up the body. the only place we want to remove the bondo is the main molding that is right under the door handle. can it be done??

Johnny wangwang 12-02-2004, 11:28 PM Sure you can remove it. But it will be a pain in the ass and most likely exspensive if you dont know any guys at a body shop who will hook you up.
Did you ever wind up getting that gas door painted? Also why do you want to mess with it? The car looks smooth
Bondo is easy to remove if you have an angle grinder and a wire cup for it, it is really dusty though. If you don't have a grinder, sandpaper works.
STRATTON 12-03-2004, 12:29 AM man thats one nice looking classic
El Gabito 12-03-2004, 01:33 AM That will SUCK. Unless you strip the whole car and repaint it, I'd reccommend against.
ApacheXMD 12-03-2004, 02:23 AM i'm not digging the shaved look. There's a big discontinuity between the bumpers. There are two hard lines coming from the top of the bumpers, and then BAM! A whole lotta nothing. Looks like a shaved cat.

Actually, I was thinking "clean B-13" but I can see your point, and that picture... I think I hurt something laughing.

Toolapcfan 12-03-2004, 11:21 AM I concur. I think the body lines of the B13 make it look good, I would never shave them, or a cat for that matter. Additionally, I concur that unless you are going to repaint it, don't bother. The problem is that even if you manage to get all the bondo out with the wire brush and sandpaper, there is going to be the edges that you'll have to feather before reshooting the body lines. I don't think it'd be worth the work. I wouldn't have bought the car if I didn't like the shaved look. It took a lot of work to shave them and it'll take a lot of work to undo any of them.
i was thinking of doing that to my b14, but i wonnder if it will look wierd like that because of the bumpers.
i really dont know if its worth the trouble of trying to remove it.
brian 12-03-2004, 01:50 PM the holes could be welded in as well, witch could make your problem 10x worse if you got into it and found that out, have you popped the door panels from behind yet to see what is back there?
sr20sentra91 12-04-2004, 01:55 AM thanks for all the input guys. we still dont know what to do.. lol that cat cracks me up everytime
B13DET 12-05-2004, 11:01 AM Honest advice dont even touch it, I worked in a body shop for years. You have no idea what your getting yourself into. A body shop will not touch that car with a ten foot pole to remove it. Sell the car and buy a different one with out the shaved moulding otherwise your going to ruin the car and cost thousands to fix if your not a profesional.
crudinyourface 12-06-2004, 12:44 AM i shaved my b14 (still need to post pics) but yea removing putty will not be easy. it will be very messy and you will need to repaint and whatnot.
