Uhhh...are you just doing a DET swap? If so, then you won't need all that fancy ignition stuff. The DET only boosts 6.5 psi stock.

And why do you want to get an FMAX manifold? Are you going with a T3/T04E turbo? If so, then you'll need new (bigger) injectors with fuel rail, fuel pump, Cobra MAF, new blow-off valve - which is basically the FMAX kit - so why don't you just get that? FMAX turbo your existing DE if you want the huge power that a T3/T04E turbo can provide? It'll be cheaper than buying a DET and FMAXing it.

maybe his motor have too much k's on it...

Yeah but even if he has high miles he could go through 4 stock motors before he gets near the price that a DET would cost to have everything done.

yeah...thats true..I said that because I was thinking of building a custom turbo for my car when I notice that my motor was having too much miles on it,so I decided that I will put a DET on it.Where I leave the bb DET are really cheap.I can have one for 1500$ canadian with the tranny, all wiring harness and the ecu with 3 monts warranty and a sr20de with about 80k on it for like 1000 can.So I figured it was more intelligent for me to buy a det,its the best bang for the buck.

Woah, $1500 Cdn? That's like, what, $1000 USD? Sounds like the deal of the century. Hook me up!

i have about 109,000 miles on the car but i bought it used and it was really beat on. money not really a issue and the det come with lower mileage any way and i can use the stock motor for parts in the long run the bb det will be better i want about 350 horsepower i want a real low 12 second street car. and the sr20de motor don't have oil squiters and other little features it has that makes it a better motor.

Well, since you already have the motor on the way, just get an F-Max Stage 2 kit, throw on a 3" exhaust, and you'll have everything you need.

You can sell the turbo and manifold and injectors and fuel rail from the DET. Don't forget, it is always a good idea to replace the bearings in a DET. :)

There is much more you can do after this too. :D

Yeah, 109k miles is kind of up there, but that's about middle-age for an SR20DE! ;)

So money isn't an issue? Cool! Sounded like in your first post it was. In that case, either go with FMAX II or piece together a bad ass turbo setup with full ball bearings that will lower the rpms needed to get boost going and make throttle response that much better. Andreas Miko was talking about a such a sweet turbo mated to a massaged GTI-R manifold with internal wastegate that goes for about $2,100 shipped. Get yourself the proper fuel system upgrades and JWT ECU (for streetability's sake) and you'll have a smokin' SE-R. I'm considering that same turbo after I get bored w/ the T25. ;)

350whp is gonna be tough to do on the street-driven car. Most people that have hit that mark were on race gas or have used water injection. Just something to consider. Prepare to pay double what you think it's gonna cost. Good luck man!

I DO NOT PLAN TO DRIVE THE CAR THAT MUCH I HAVE A TEG I WAS thinking about getting a gti-r it seems to me that plenty of places are carrying parts for this motor. what you guys think gti-r or bb i would prefer a gti-r but i refuse to get this motor until parts come more readily. if it does by next summe than i opted for the gti-r. only time will tell

What do you mean "tough to do on a street driven car".

My car was street driven, ran like a stocker until you stuck your foot into it. 409whp can't be wrong.

Yes I had water injection but I can't possibly see how that would make the car any less "streetable". In fact my car was one of the most tame "modified" 4 cyl cars I've yet to see.

The race fuel was for safe keeping at the track and 20+psi.

I think he was talking to run 355whp to the street.

Sorry. Should have been more clear. I was writing that post too fast and thinking while typing. He was saying at first that he wanted to lower cost and then he said money wasn't an issue.

I was thinking it would be hard to have a street car (i.e. run on pump gas) and still put down 350whp for cheap. I also meant it as it will be tough on your car running that much power all the time on the street. I know of your amazing car Jay. I've seen it action. I was there when the bearings spun. It's an amazing piece of work, but you can tell right away that it wasn't cheap at all to build.

When I usually hear SR20s putting down 350+whp, I usually hear "with H20" and "C16." Yes, H20 is streetable, just another thing to keep an eye on, but C16 definitely isn't. It kills your O2 sensor and is expensive as hell. Still, Ron ran VP116 gas all the time anyways (for those encounters vs Z06s I guess), so I guess if you have the means, anything is streetable. ;)

Anyways, to clear up, yes you can have a beast of a SR20-powered street car that can easily rip off low 12s, but to keep that reliability that is implied in the phrase "street car," plan on using H20 and C16 when you want extreme boost, and that isn't cheap.

MAYBE you guys got me confused im not going to say that money is not a issue becuase it is. i don't want to get the gti-r or bb and fuck it up there is two type of racers in the world the one that goes fast and always break down. and the guy that takes his time and does everything right starting from square one. if i were to get the det the first year i probably run stock i just needed to know what ineed to run double the stock boost safely im talking reailbilty here guys!!! i want to do this right!! now lets start out like school kids after i get my det install with a front mount intercooler what do you "turbo guys " suggest i do next. ;)

If money is not an issue then I would do what Carl Monopoli did. Send it to Jim Wolf. Not the motor but the complete car. That way you are assured a bulletproof car.

Well If thats your intentions then I would suggest you read the G20 article and talk to Geroge Roffe.
