ok, so I know some guy who is convinced that a K24 turbo is better then a sr20det. I personally haven't herd of anyone doing a K24 turbo but I do know that they need all new internals if they even want to handle any kind of boost. Any opinions of thoughts on this subject would be muchly appreciated

It's not a bad idea.
1. Quicker spool on a given turbo - the added displacement of the KA = more exhaust volume = faster boost.
2. It's a strong block - at least as strong as the SR, and it's already got oil squirters.
3. The valvetrain is really a simpler, stronger design. Over-rev and SR and you have rocker arms everywhere; not so with the KA.
4. Parts availability - with the SR, some parts (oil pan, water pump, harness, etc) are Japan only and pretty pricey in the USA. For the KA, you can get anything you need at the dealership.
5. Cost - with the still-rising prices of SR swaps, to fully build and turbo a KA is actully becoming less expensive, at least a bit. A good set of cams makes it almost as revvy as an SR, and you've got basically a new engine, since to run high boost you need new pistons/rods/etc.
If I was doing my project over, and I had started with a twin-cam car, I'd be looking seriously at a KA-T. There are just so many things you don't have to source, it must be nice.
OTOH, I have my SR now, and I really like it, and I'm not about to go back unless it blows up.

All they need is new pistons. After that 300whp+ is easy.

My friend is running 15 psi on 100 octane on a 98 240SX. Hes putting down 350 WHP. The motor loves boost, SOOO much torque everywhere.
on stock internals and pump gas, 10 psi is just fine. the piston ringlands are the weak points, a new set of pistons and your set for 15 psi on pump gas.
