I have a 95 200sx se with a 1.6. One of my friends has the same thing and hes doing a swap to the 20VE.

I think i wanna do the same thing. I was going to turbo my 1.6 but.....

I basically need your guys words of encouragement(or discouragment:(), *** isnt alot harder to swap from a GA rather than swapping from a DE? Anyone else done this?

Thanks guys. Im kind of scared that i might swamp myself in work. I have $2100 right now. So let me hear your thoughts

EDIT: this should probably be in the 200sx section. Sorry, i didnt see it:D

U can do. Help your friend do his and learn some so when u do yours you will be somewhat comfortable with it.

I see you are in FL, I know a guy that sells the VE for $1200 + $190(shipping). U probably can go pick it up and save the shipping cost. Someone sells a 1.6 to 2.0 swap package (JGY i think).

I would definately go VE over a turbo 1.6. If the 1.6 had forged interals I might would consider it.

1.6 to 20VE has been done, just requires a few more things because you don't have a SR motor next to you to steal parts from. 2100 will probably just get you the motor. you need tranny, ecu, dristributor, clutch, you'd want bigger brakes, a whole engine wire harness. it gets pricey but you'd make way more power than a turbo GA

You would have to see how much a GA-SR swap first and pick it up. Its not the easiest thing in the world but if you have a second car you could use i say go for it. Start collecting parts now! Check the classifieds for good deals also. A easier route to go would be buy a 91-94 se-r for cheap the swap a VE.

My friend got his VE with the tranny for $1995. Is that a decent price?

So the VE with manual tranny has 204 HP, right?

The SR20VE comes with 187hp and a CVT transmission
The SR20VE 20V comes with 204hp and a 6spd I think.

Not many people have the 20v

the extra complication of swapping from a GA is that you need the SR tranny, axles, and well, a lot of the SR parts. But it's been done so nothing new. Just a couple more steps than if you had a SR in the first place. Just make a list of every part that you'll need for the swap, price everything out, save another $1000 on top for stuff you forget, and then you'll be ready to do the swap. Nothing worse than being in the middle of a swap and running out of money!
