Sony explodes are kinda iffy in the first place, but yes you will get better sound with a nice amp and a good source. In other words dont bother if you have a stock receiver or anything cheap.

You would be amazed at what a really nice receiver can do to even stock speakers. Remember a chain (of audio components) is as strong (sounds as good) as its weakest link (worst component in chain).

I say sell your headunit and get a nice one, then sell them explodes, and never buy anything you can find in a big box store...most all of it is crap. A nice headunit will do wonders for the speakers.

Or, if you are a total noob, mount the speakers.

When I was 16, i had this problem. Please don't laugh.

You get what you pay for. For $40, Sony Xplodes sound pretty damn good, I just put some in the NX (yours, Louis! ).
