First off, for the people that have not done this yet, they are already there grabbing the gauge cluster, its just one more thing to grab rather then a whole rewiring job.
Props that it worked out for you, I bet it took you at least an hour. And some stuff did not even work in the end on mine... Like my radiator fans
Jen36 what you have read about your cluster situation is incorrect it will work with your SR swap. There is no reason it shouldnt.
B13Sentra2dr I am pretty sure you are wrong its not that easy or this would have been done a long time ago. I have swapped clusters including the analog to digital clusters a ton of times and I have never seen a place where you can unplug the harneses. Rewiring the cluster is not that hard at all, just takes a little time.

I did a little more research and he is right. Your GA16DE gauges will work they just have a 130 mph top speed instead of 150 and an 8,000 RPM tachometer instead of 9,000.

Your fans should come on regardless if you even have a cluster. It's a different coolant temp sensor and the command is sent through the ecu. Might want to check into that.

thats wasup ! i guess the only thing that i have to worry about is my speed sensor since i dont *** if my car will work without it
whats the deal with your speed sensor? On a side note, you may have to change temp sensors however, depending on what year car your SR came out of, you will find this out after your swap is finished your temp gauge will say your car is over heating when in fact its not. Its an easy $8 fix if it turns out to be the case. Remember this if your temp gauge says you are running hot and your radiator overflow bottle is not boiling then you are not over heating change your temp sensor.
i *** this is out of subject of the thread but he asked.... i got this posted on the tec corner and i havent really had any help..................
I have searched the forum on this topic and have learned alot about what im going to ask. i have a 94 sentra and im doing a swap. the tranny i have was from a g20 and it came with the electric speed sensor.. My problem...... the g20 plug is diffrent.... my solution..... I got a 93-94 speed sensor for a sentra from advance problem solved right... yeah right.. upon getting the sensor i realize that the harness i got from one of the forum members is made for the cable sensor and dose not have a plug for the electric sensor........ from what i read some people have driven without it and have been fine just the speedo dont work and there cruise control don't work... ok here is my problem that i am thinking about. does that speed sensor control shifting points in a AUTO. i have a auto tranny and i would think this sensor would be important since you manual guys shift the car on your own........
Im confused, can you send me a pic of the sensor you got from the forum member? You obviously were sent the wrong sensor. BTW the shifting points are all ECU related and if you follow the wiring diagrams in the manual the speed sensor does not go into the ECU so it wont effect how your vehicle shifts the ECU will. Make sure you have the proper ECU (meaning auto ECU not manual ECU) for that trans or your shifts will be hard and uncomfortable.
In order not to further jack this guys thread just contact me by PM for further questions.
He said he got the sensor from Advance (as in Advance auto parts)
He actually needed to get the speed pinion that goes into the transmission AND temp sensor from the G20 I am pretty sure.
The SE-R sensor is useless to you because you have the wrong gauge cluster and speed pinion in the transmission.
Chris
All the above is not true, and using the P10 tranny, his problems might be even bigger than he thinks because I ran into this situation, but before I cause panic lets sort everything out then we will handle the problem I am thinking he might have.
no no. you guys got it all wrong, the speed sensor that came with the tranny was the g20 one. its diffrent from the sr one because the plugs are diffrent. i simply just change the sensor from a g20 to a sr one. My problem is that my car wasent made for the cable but the electronic sensor and the harness that i got was a 93 ser and since that car was cable diriven the harness does not have a plug for the speed senor! now do you get what im trying to say! i have no plug for my speed sensor... the only way i can fix that is if i get a sr harness that use the electornic sensor not the cable. so until i can get one will it be ok to drive without it pluged ! ! ! ! !
Okay so can't you just use the 93/94 style speed pinion for the electronic(digital) speedometer? Is that what you already tried? To go from cable to digital on my sentra we just change the speed pinion in the tranny to the newer style.
im sorry but im kind of a nooby on this but what the heck is a speed pinion ! and i dont have to change from cable to elelectir my car already came with the electric speed sensor. im doing a GA to SR swap !
Its a thing that has a gear on it and it slides into the tranny (there is bolts to hold it in also) and has either a speedometer cable coming out of it, or WIRES.... you want the one with wires
This is what it looks like, the top one is the mechanical one for the B13 the electric one looks similar to the P11 one on the bottom. Loosen that 10mm bolt, use a pair of channel locks grab ahold of it around the base (the round part that contacts the transmission) Twist the sensor back and forth while pulling up and it will come out. Put the electric one from the GA16 in since its the same as the SR, wire it up and call it a day
ahhhhhhhhhh shizzle lol.. but i always thought that was just called a speed sensor lol.... yeah i have that. and since i still got my GA motor i will use that ! ! i was already told a way to wire it up with a harness that was from a 91-92 b13 which was made for the cable sensor so i will be doing that little project soon to switch it over to electric ! !
You can just put those wires coming from the ELECTRONIC type speed pinion straight to the back of the gauge cluster buddy I don't think you need to change harness.
