rust flakes on rear speaker magnet?

hey
i have an infinity rear speaker, almost new (used for a month or so vol knob turned down), that is covered in rust flakes the worst part is that it buzzes to high hell when playing sunn o cds. my question, is it sounding like its blown from the metal flakes? should i just toss it and buy a new set or can i save it if that is the problem?

thanks

Sounds like moisture is getting into the trunk area. I think even if you got new speakers it would do it again.

Well your title says you have an NX. Have you considered that there's rust on the strut towers which are being attracted to the speaker magnet?????

yeah there is rust on the strut towers but im in ohio its a way of life. im gonna have to grind the undercoating on the outside area around the strut tower, i have an idea that it is trapping water between it and the metal.there is drips of rust coming through the metal not running down the car. my last resort is foam the rear hatch, as just about everthing else is foamed

in the mean time i guess ill be checking out infinity's warrenty stuff

thanks

foam will trap water, causing rust to form even faster. gind down/sand any surface rust, any spray alot of rust killer all over it, then coat in a layer of truck bed coating<that turns hard and is hard to scrap off, unlike under coat thats very easy to scrape off.
