How can I convert a 2 amp charger to a .75 amp charger?

I need to convert my car battery charger into a motorcycle battery charger. I also need to figure out how to measure AMPS with my voltage tester, if that is even possible. I don't have the instructions any longer. The setting I thought I used doesn't seem to work. Maybe it's broken. I figure I can get a resistor of some sort and just put that inline on the Positive lead of the charger but I don't know if that will work, if I need it on positive and negative or anything about it really.

What kind of voltage tester. If you have a DMM, you can test up to 10A, fused.

The only way to reduce aperage would be to use a resistor. I would recommend a variable resistor, so that you can increase the current should you need to use it on a car again. Where to use the resistor, I can't tell you for sure. I would assume that you'd want it at the output of the charger.
