Voltmeter reading change?

Searched here, and google, no good description did I find.

Normally the voltmeter reads 14.5, this morning it read about 13.8/13.9, and with big load started to creep down toward 13.5. In the afternoon for just a bit it read close to 14.5, but the needle dipped below 14 pretty quickly. I'm assuming that the alternator is finally starting to bite the dust (don't know if original, but car has 120k). COULD it be a dying/dead battery cell, or COULD it be regulator? I (being an old geezer idiot) have let my Odyssey go down to dead twice now, and don't know how robust they are.
THANX
Jer
