So since Crutchfield is only 5 minutes away from my house, I went there today to pickup some good old speakers

I decided to get these

Crutchfield is nice to give harness cables and brackets for free

in fat bastard voice: They're dead sexy. The 2007 db series owns the old ones by far. You going to use stock grilles?

I'm going to figure something out for them

They technically do not fit in the car, or are listed as not fitting in. I had the Crutchfield guy look it up and thats because the tweeters stick out too much.

Now the ones that do fit perfectly are the DB651s serias, but they are shallow, and are a little worse and cost the same amount!

So I still went with these, just told the guy that I will be making some stuff so it's not a problem that they wont fit perfectly

Congrats on the new speakers. I wouldn't be surprised if they are a direct fit. If you read through some reviews on Crutchfield, they alway say that stuff doesn't directly fit when it actually does. I think they do it just to cover their ass. Even if they don't you can just cut holes and mount them on top of the rear deck lid.

I agree, they probably just do it as a liability thing. Which makes sense because people now days sue when ever they feel like.

What I'm thinking of doing is cutting out a hole as big as the speakers, then laying down some chicken wire or something hard. Then putting the stock carpeting on top.

Why chicken wire or covering it with something? So that when I put something on on the back, it doesn't fall through the carpet and ruin my speaker. just in case

Or another thing that I might do is mount them on top, or around there, then buy a universal black grill which is not too transparent. Then just mount it on top of the rear deck lid.

Alright I got the speakers in!

They fit perfectly in the stock mounting screw holes

Now I was afraid that the plastic top will get in the way of the tweeters, so I tried to cut some of the plastics around the tweeters, but I cut a little to low . But when I was putting the plastic top back on, I noticed that it barely touches it, and if you just break the plastic so that it can kinda bend, then you'll be fine.

I will still cut out the holes and put some kind of a grill on, I dont want the plastic stopping my sound!!!

BTW I love the speakers!!! I did hear some rattling, but thats with music way high up and something was vibrating, like I don't even hear my engine screaming, I have a 91 cam and JWT pop so its pretty loud.

As for my old speakers, well one of them is ripped

I will have pictures later on

They come with tweeters built into them, so might save you some money

haha, I know.

I'm using the 2007 db 4" all around. Just painted the grille face cause the silver stood out like a sore thumb.

I'm happy with how they are, Just wondering If I can get a little more from them. Sad part is, I spend $160 already, so buying new speakers when I don't need them is stoooopid. Plus, the stock location makes it stupid to get components. The tweeter is already up high, they're perfect.

Looks like you were in desperate need of some rear speakers. Good thing you replaced them.

They seem to clear the bars that are used for the drunk fine. The only thing is the tweeter sticks out a bit, so when you put the cover back on it does touch the tweeters. So you need to pretty much make a hole etc.

i hope you like the db's *** i don't like my polk momo coaxials. i'm thinking it's my kenwood HU. they seem not to match together.

btw, the $50 discount code doesn't work. let me know if you know any codes out there. i'm planning to get a new HU.

I actually am very satisfied with them. I rather now watch movies in my car then on my comp with surround sound

The coupons expire and don't always work for everything, your best off googling for Crutchfield coupons or discounts

polks are ok.. I had pioneer 6.5 all the way around but I just swaped them all out for kicker rs 6.5 components. they sound extremely clear and very clean hitting. nice speakers and installs in your ride man...

Yeah, Kickers are okay. Pioneer, if you're getting them from Circuit City, Walmart, and that, they're crap. My experience with Polk has been wonderful. They can take anything I throw at them, even only being 4".
