Never seen this before

I have a 400.2 rockford amp and a P3 10 sub. I wired up the amp mono 2ohms. The thing im not sure how the sub is wired up. What i mean is if its running 2 or 4 ohms right now.

So heres the problem. I have the amp turned up pretty high and i will turn the cd player up the 1, i usually run it at 23. Every couple of seconds the sub pulses, extending the sub all the way and then repeating every couple of seconds. when it does this it is not putting out any sound. Its really slow. What is going on?

if it's not the ground, then maybe the RCA's you're using. I'll post up a site..

you have what is called reverse puliarity,, you have the amp wired wrong..

goto www.Rockfordfosgate.com

they have all your answers about the P3 and your 400.2

when a sub does that it means your amp is going into protect... good luck

Wired the amp up mono? Do you mean bridged? When you bridge an amp the ohm level is dropped double (e.g. 2=1 , 4=2). Is the speaker a dual voice coil?

Check crutchfields wireing diagrams for your sub and amp combo. Depending if its dvc 2ohm, 4ohm or svc 2ohm, 4 ohm. This happened to me before when I wired my sub for an impedence that my amp could not handle in mono mode.

Yeah is a DVC 2ohm sub. It came prewired so im going to have to open it up tonight and check it out. Not sure if the sub is wired for 2 or 1 ohms.

As for the amp it is bridged and running 2 ohms.

That amp you have is 2 ohms stable if you have a DVC 2 ohm sub and bridged the amp you dropped it down to 1 ohm,, it has went into protect,,,,,,,

Well i got an answer from rockford and when you bridge this amp it as 4-ohm Bridged/mono. Looks like i need to open up the sub and see how it is wired. Hope this is the answer to my problem, if not im not sure what else to try.
