Sound System ???'s

I'm about to purchase some speakers for my b14, but can't make up my mind on what config.. I should run. Not looking for anything earth shaking. Just want some clear, clean highs and enough bass to even it all out. I'll be replacing the stock garbage w/ either components up front (6 3/4?), and 3 ways in the rear (6 3/4 as well, right?) or 3 ways all around. What do you guys suggest? LMK and thanks for the input.

Yeah 6.75" all the way around. Components up front would be nice, better stereo imaging. Use some sound deadning and you may want a small subwoofer for some bass.

Yeah, don't need a 12" sub, if you don't want a lot of bass. It's really annoying to me, so I had to turn the gain almost all the way down

Well Sentrixx recommended to me the Elemental Design 6.5" sub to mount in the rear deck while using some high quality components up front. From what I have heard if you get a nice setup in front like some polks and these subs in the rear deck you will have a good balanced setup. This is what I am doing as soon as I can find sombody to buy my current sub setup. Otherwise if you get 4 components I have read that the Infinity Basslink is good to provide some balanced bass.

Trying to stay away from subs, unless they fit in the rear deck. Anyone know where to look / buy elemental design speakers from?

Yea, I'm looking on there right now, but I take it that they are not in the US.

I totally agree with ED's 6.5" subs for the rear deck with some components up-front and a nice 4-way amp. That is actually the set-up I want eventually. Compact, discrete, and light.

Think I'll look into the 6.5" subs for the rear, but will have to go w/ some polk components up front. Trying to keep the cost down a lil. Where is everyone seeing the 6.5" sub anyways. I've been on the website a few times and can't seem to find any sub offered by them smaller then 8".

I say pick up a cheap 2 channel amp, doesnt have to be anything fancy really. Then get a 3-way component system. You cant compare a head unit powered system to the sound quality of an amplified component system. You can pick them up relatively, they come with crossovers most of the time. As for subs, a single 10 will produce great sound quality with a small single channel amp. 10s produce good sound quality, 12's are in between and 15's are just silly in my opinion.

I recommend everyone go to www.sonicelectronix.com for their car audio stuff. Their prices are good, they ship quick and have some awesome deals sometimes even free shipping and what not. They show their prices compared to MSRP which is usually a huge difference.

My component system:

Sound quality is amazing.

For subs i picked up 2 visonik 12's in a box + a 2channel amp with free shipping for like 180. I couldnt complain, the amp powers my components the 12's are running of a 3k watt monoblock amp and i love how it sounds .

For components check on E-bay. I've seen some really good prices for componets and audio in general on E-bay.

I dunno. I'm not a fan of kenwood really. I'd sooner buy Pioneer speakers, before those. I mean, they do have high power ratings, but power isn't everything. I'd go with Polk, Elemental Design, Alpine, or even Pioneer before those. just my opinion.

I've never owned Kenwood speakers, so I can't speak from experience, but those look like some nice well matched speakers.

I've owned nothing but kenwood head units for some years now and have had no promblems. As far as speakers go, have usually stuck w/ jbl, ma audio, and polk, for the most part. A good portion of the guys I hang around own kenwood speakers and haven't come across any major issues. They have great customer service too. I'll never buy pioneer garbage, that's for sure.
