How do you remove the speakers located in the door panels? Do I have to remove the whole panel or is there a way to remove the map pocket to access them?
You gotta take off the whole door panel and then there should be a pastic cover almost. The speaker should be outside of that. I think there's like 4 screws on outer part of the door, 4 on the bottom, 2 on the inside and the seatbelt running thing, pop it off and run it up the seatbelt. You'll basically understand from there. Pull off the panel towards the back of the car and direct the seatbelt through the lining. Hope you like your new speakers.
I am replacing my blown factorys with some Alpine 2- ways, but once I get all of the screws off of the door panel, Im not able to get the panel to budge. I dont think im forgeting any screws, but could someone please assist me in this task?

Gotta remove the window handle as well. It has a little metal bent-pin thing holding it on. I used a home-made bent heavy-duty paper clip. Make a tiny little hook on the end of the straightened out paper clip (one pair of regular pliers to hold the paper clip, needle-nosed pliers to make the hook) and you can pull out the pin thing from the window handle. That thing is under tension, so don't lose it if it springs out of there and flys. (Ask me how I know this ).
Dont forget the screws around the door handle itself. IIRC, there is a couple of screws in that area as well.
The panel will pull up, backwards, and out a little bit, at the same time. Gently, don't break anything. It should come out easy if you have found all the screws. The seatbelt can slip out of the door panel when you remove the trim piece around the insert point for the seatbelt. Then you can just put the door panel aside while you work on the speaker.

There should be 2 screws underneath the door handle. You will also have to take off one screw on the door handle latch cover. Then that cover will move out of the way. Then just pull the panel. And if you break the clip that holds on the window handle, just go to any local auto parts stores and they'll have an assortment pack of them.

on a similar note over the past winter when i did my door jams, obviously i removed the doors. on reinstallation the driver side speaker no longer works. the mirror works so i know there is juice getting through the plug, but nothing in the speaker. any ideas?

There is a plug for the speaker inside the door as well, as well is there one inside the a-pillar IIRC.

The two screws would be under the part you grab to close the door, and they're covered by some plastic clips. You will need a flathead screwdriver to get these out. Also, IIRC, Harborfrieght or any other tool place should carry a door trim panel tool kit, or just the Jesusclip remover. Here it is: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=38386
Its the tool on the right.
I finally worked up the courage and figured out how to safely remove the panel. I had the help of a friend, but once all of the screws were out (including the inner door latch screw behind it's slide in cover, the two behind the door handle, and the small pop out screws holding the seatbelt cover in place), I had my friend apply a lot of pressure to the area around the window handle which gave me a gap in between the handle and door panel. I just slid in a small paper clip with a hook at the end and slowly pulled the little clip off. Be very careful when doing this, because it is a small clip and will mysteriously disappear onto the ground in you arent aware of it. Once you remove the clip, you will be able to see how it fastens the handle onto the little crank. Putting the clip back on might take you a good amount of time, but it is definitely possible
You put the clip (called the Jesus Clip in the automotive industry, because you say "JESUS!" when it flys away and dissapears) back on the window crank before you install it, then just push the crank handle on. Its not that difficult once you do it.
