Can you provide more detail about PC in car?
I use laptop often in car with wireless broadband internet.
I would love a small integrated XP box. Touchscreen would be even better, running like a tablet pc.
Picture the beauty of DL'ing music on the road. Directions, phone #'s, IM, SR20Forum, etc. Add gps for cheap and good mapping software and you have the future, now.
Where i live, verizon broadband can be suprisingly fast even while driving. (50-300KB+ DL).
yup, one of the best models ever. I have this one as well.
However, there is a MAJOR design flaw, and that is the vpower hybrid amp it has. Does 60wattsx4, and this is the problem.
They claim you need a 10gauge wiring kit direct from the battery, which is fine, but if you can't match the connection to the headunit with 10gauge, then it will eventually wear out the wiring on the headunit harness.
When I replaced my harness the first time, the insulation had melted so that the inner strands of copper were coated in plastic, inside and out. This is the only downside I can find on the 7894.
Im running Windows Xp, with an amd 2400 mobile low watt cpu, I have a DC-DC Opus 150w smart power supply, which can auto shut down(hibernate) using a remote wire just like an amp or radio does. The power supply has auto voltage sensing and will auto shutdown when battery power gets too low for normal cranking, and can also shut down during Microsfts freezing issues, which are rare during shutdown, and never seen during normal use. I have OBD2 reading, emanage. and the works. Im using a 80 gig laptop hard drive, and shutdown and startup is about ten senconds using hibernation at all times. More info can be found on www.mp3car.com Its a great forum so dont forget to search.
The best part is that I made a custom case for the pc, you couldnt find the pc if i gave u the chance. The size is about 12x12x3. Enjoy!!
How big is your monitor and what program gives you all that stuff? Like the main menu with the infiniti logo and the weather and such? That is sweet I have been thinking of doing that to my car for awhile I have my in dash monitor to use as a screen

Im using a program called roadrunner, its all in the link i provided. The programs skin was made by another graphic designer who owns a G35, and u can easily throw in other auto manufactures logo's as well. Just like most great forums, we are all in it for each other on mp3car.
About the monitor u have, ur gonna have to sell it and buy a straight up VGA monitor. Im using a Xenarc 7" widescreen VGA touchscreen monitor and its clean as sh*t. Other non vga, composite monitors will NOT show clean and will give u trouble, text will be awful etc. I paid about $300 for my monitor on ebay but it goes for like $375.
Goodluck and enjoy, its the est mod in town... I know people with the new BMW 745's and has carpc's, lambo's and all!
I"ll try to post pics of my deck soon, I;ll try to get some pics up, but i think i'll need to get someone to host them for me. But i have an alpine head unit, and im installing my 4 channel and subamp tommrow. horray for Thump!!
