Stereo pieces are assembled

Update on what the sentra will have this spring, I have everything but the dynaudio components, I have to do custom panels or drop down and I really like the 7" mids. I doubt the eclipse will be in there once the autoPC is going. It has the Emanage Support tool on it as well as the consult diagnostic (just need the kit from Calum).

Xenarc 7" Touch with VGA and Video In

Mini-ITX Carputer - Hand made with Epia M10000 board

JL 12W6 V2

Xtant X603 5 channel amp (three independant power supplies in it)

Eclipse CD5444 Receiver

Dynaudio Components up front

Rockford 1 Farad Capacitor
Street Wires RCA and wiring
Stinger Fuse holders
Westco SVR Audio Series Battery

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

Awesome! I fell in love with the amp when I heard it in a buddy of mine's eclipse hatch. He had an Xtant X series 12" sub and focal components up front with the eclipse deck and it was just amazing how clear it was and how tight. I think the JL sub is a step up but I know the eclipse components are a step down from focal components. I will be happy though, now to find the time to get it in the trunk. Here is what my trunk is right now:

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

you will love it, I actually did an install on my roommates 240sx with that amp too
http://www.cardomain.com/id/gunmetalgrey I did all of the work on the car since he has had it, including all of the install, and also has a new battery in the back too, plus you can see me putting the i/c in, too exciting

Should make for a very nice sounding set-up.
I run a 5 channel amp also and like the way it sounds for as small of a system as I have. I'm getting ready to upgrade my front components soon as they've been in the car since summer 96 and when pushed hard, they really show their age.

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

Why is that man? I have had I think 3 sets of eclipse components in my day and a set of rockford fanatic Q's. Those eclipse components have been in the door of my sentra for about 4 years now, lol! I just never changed them out. What do you suggest for new components that won't rape my bank like Focals would? JL, Xtant, MB Quartz, Rockford, Dynaudio?

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

actually its a very subjective opinion. i am not bashing eclipse's build quality, in fact i think they are very good. i just dont like how they sound. for components, i would choose MB Quartz.

2nd oops.. didnt notice that u already had the components... i thot u were "going" to buy them.

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

I was thinking of getting some dynaudio 7" mids and some image dynamics tweeter horns. That seems to be an awesome setup and used here:

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

I'm a total Alpine whore. Love the V12 stuff and pre-amps. I have recently moved to Boston Pro components (replaced some older MB Quart seperates). I was never an Eclipse fan, but their new stuff is making me think twice.

good move, I love the boston's, they sound great and last a long time, I bought them when the new series first came out back in 1998-1999ish and are in my VW now and still sound great

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

I have an Xtant 121M driving a single 10" Boston Pro in a custom enclosure. Love it. My second 121M after my first was ripped off last year. The Quart's were driven by an Alpine F407 which was also ripped off at the same time- I'm still trying to find a replacement for the F407, but went with Boston Pros for the components.

I would stay away from horns. They take a TON of equlization to get them to sound right, every setup I have heard always sounded tweaked to the limit. If you were thinking of changing listen to the Dynaudio's, I have them in my home and had them in my car. Amazing speakers! The Focal's are nice also however I only preferred the Utopia's over the Dyn.'s and well they are about $2300 once you get crossover's set up.

I would also use the front channels to drive the front stage and the sub channel for the sub. Kill the rear speaks...

and if you run rears turn them waaaaay down, you won't be able to hear them from back there because they won't be loud at all, but if you can turn them off and on you will be able to tell, but if you are going with a good sounding setup, don't worry about it, but if you want to compete, they will bring the stage up into the dash because they will be firing off the rear deck.

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

I don't run rears in the classics. The cars are to small and i don't do competitions, lol!

I agree on the Utopia, awesome product but soooo expensive. I haven't heard the dynaudio tweets, jut the mids and I love the mids. I will take a look at them.

If you loved the mids. be prepared to be impressed. My only comment is that I have only liked them on the Dynaaudio passive crossovers, active's didn;t do them justice. I have heard the system 360 on a custom made passive setup that was amazing, granted the crossovers cost as much as the 3 way;s did. The system 240 rocks and if you get those mids. sealed off in their own enclosure mine played down to about 60hz with decent accuracy.

Re: Stereo pieces are assembled

I have heard Focal polykevlars and they were nice but not that great compared to my Adire Koda mids and lpg 26na tweets with the koda passive crossovers. My personal favorites comps are Utopias, Crystals, Rainbow, MB quarts, Boston Pro and some pieced together ones(vifa, LPG, dynaudio etc) depending on crossover setting.

BTW nice setup. How much power are you planning on running with that sub and with what inclosure. Not really a fan of those eclipse comps but they still are very good.
