This just started happening out of the blue. I have a '93 NX2000, and I just installed an 800-watt Planet Audio amp and 2 RF 15" subs. This setup has been working flawlessly (with the exception of the sub box moving around a bit and uncrimping my ground cable, which I fixed for good) for about two weeks. Just recently, however, I get this loud, bass-filled noise coming from my subs. I look back to see that it is my left sub still going, even with the radio turned completely off (with the car still on, so it's getting power). When I turn power off to the amp the sub stops, obviously, but when I turn the power back on, with the radio off and everything it still keeps bumping. What could be the problem? Is this interference? Also, I haven't "hidden" all my wires yet, if that might contribute to the issue. Thanks for the help.
it is probably your amp powering off, some amps don't have a mute switch on them when they turn off, and when it looses power, it thumps. if the amp is turning off, don't worry about it.

Have your amp checked. They do that when they go bad.
ONLY other thing I can think of is a possible bad RCA. Switch the left and right RCA plugs at the amp and see if the problem switches sides. If so, get an RCA. If not, have the amp checked out.

Did you use the remote line on the back of the deck? Are you running an aftermarket deck? Alot of the time people use a switched 12v instead of a remote out. If you did this it will allow the amp to cycle (thumping or solid tone). This happens because although the deck is off there is a millisecond where there is still noise in the car. What happens is the amp picks up the tone through the rca's or other source, usually a high to low converter. What happens is the amp repeats the tone and puts out the sound. Kind of like feedback at a concert. Other common causes are incorrect mounting or location of the amp or the infamous bad ground. Wicked is right in saying to switch the rca's but if it is the problem i listed above the problem may only repeat itself.
F.Y.I. the problem may be only coming from one sub because Planet audio amps use dual linear amps and in doing such one internal ground trace is longer than the other. Hence more likely to pick up tonal interference.
My amp isn't powering off because I have wired to the ignition switch so that the amp turns on when I turn the car on (either to accessories or to on). I took ya'lls suggestion and switched the RCA cables. That seemed to work for right now. I'll give it a few days to see whether or not the problem is "cured." Thanks for the help, guys.
