battery relocation(pics 56k beware)

i just got 15ft of 4gauge wire for 16 bucks....i want to reloacte the battery but i dont know where to run it to/how to run it. ive serched it says to cut the stock wire and put the new wires there but didnt say anything about the wires from the alternator///accessories wtf do i do with them? should i just do a distribution block? and have the wire coming from the battery to the block then the 2 8ga wires for alt and acc, and have the 4 ga to the starter? im trying to do it right so im not gonna touch it till i get some answers thanks guys.

4ga is too small for battery relocation. get 1/0 to run from the battery to the alternator and for the battery to chassis ground (make sure you get a VERY good ground)
use 4ga for running the acc. 8ga is wayyyyyyy too small. you want to at least match what it has stock (4ga for acc)

you dont need a distro block, nor would it be a wise choice for running the cars electrical system. depending on what kind of battery you have, get a better set of terminals, or, if you have a yellowtop, Tsunami makes a cap for it, direct drop in, that has all the outputs you could possibly need, and more.

my suggestion, get the battery relocation kit from summitracing ... it has everything you'd need.

summitracing.com ... its right on the main page.

Re: battery relocation

the stock wires are 8 gauge im not changing them and the 4 gauge is larger than the stock one going from my battery to my starter. would i really have to go larger?if im just moving the battery. form what ive expierienced in the 5 years ive been doing car audio stuff is 4 gauge is fine...

im just matching the sizes that are on my car not argueing i know it may seem that way thanks for the info though.

Re: battery relocation

stock wires from battery to starter are 4 gauge and the battery and ground wires are 2 gauge stock. At least in my car and my brothers. I would do 1/0 like mentioned above, just go to an electrical supply place and get welder's cable in that size. SHould be around 1.40 a foot or so.

Re: battery relocation

ok i got off my a$$ and finally did it today. spent a lil while to do it too.

the 2 wires at the battery i just disconnected and wired into each other there was a small wire with 2 connectors i removed and they plug into each other.

i cut open the harness and took the positive terminal wire that gose to the starter out of it and ran it over to the passengerside. i cut the two 8ga wires off the alt and put loop connectors on them(all 4 ends).put a loop connector on my 4gau running to the hatch and a loop on the wire for the starter the fans and the actual radio reciver(a lil ghetto). put a bolt through all the loops and taped the sh*t outta it got all the slack to the rear of the car. put the battery terminal on the 4ga wire and shortend the 2 amp positive wires, put loops on them and ran them to the battery. used the stock negative wire and grounded the batter to the body 2 times

flipped the switch for the radio and the amps and reciever kicked on along with the fans then i turned her over and bling bling battery in the trunk. my engine bay looks EMPTY!!!! really empty for that matter. ill have pics up later.

Re: battery relocation

all the wires taped together...each wire has an eye hole connector on it and bolt running through it.

remove the little wire with the 2 connectors next to my hand and the wires loop right into each other.

1st ground.

2nd ground.

ill have a box for it in a week or 2 for now bungies work. i still need to reground the engine but no prolbems with this set up yet.

Re: battery relocation

Dude, get a box for that thing NOW and mount the whole shooting match securely.

That is one of the most dangerous things I've seen in a long time.
