my lights went off

hey guys i turned on my radio the other day and it was playing fine, i turned on my headlights and then my radio turned off and so did my dash lights... then the radio came back on and played fine but the dash lights are still out.. what kinda fuse do u think i blew?

the guy that had the car before me cut the factory wire harness for the radio and i got a new one so i had to wire it the same way he had it wired *** i dunno how else to do it, basically it was the (blue wire on factory harness-blue wire with white stripe on the radio) (red and yellow with fuse on the yellow linefrom the stereo-red from the factory) (black-black)
i didnt have to use any of the speaker wires *** its all connected through the amp... how do i fix this? should i replace both fuses on the blue wire and the yellow wire???

Re: my lights went off

can you take a pic of the harness and the way its wired? that'd be a big help

(this is why you should always spend the extra $10 and buy the factory -> 16pin universal harness, so its all plug and play, no cutting required.

Re: my lights went off

well what happened was the harness that comes from the car itself is cut. so if we were to get a harness to plug in to it, you just wouldnt be able to do it.

Re: my lights went off

The fuse says something like "right rear tail light" or something about the rear tail lights. I had this happen to my car too. Turns out I was an idiot and didn't cover some of the non-hooked up wires and they shorted out the dash and running lights.

Go to www.installdr.com to see how the factory and aftermarket radio harnesses match up. This really helped me in making sure that I had wired all the wires up correctly.
