Minijack To Rca

Does anyone know where I can get a female stereo minijack to RCA adapter? I have seen some but they are not what I am looking for. I want it to be mountable so I can drill a hole in the dashboard and have a minijack mounted there. The purpose will be to have a jack to plug an ipod into that will go to a set of RCA inputs on the head unit. Also open to suggestions if you think my idea sucks.

Re: Minijack To Rca

u might be able to get away with a panel mount minijack.. then get speaker wire that has RCAs on them already... cut in the middle and then connect the bare wire to the connections on the panel mount minijack.. there should be a ground and signal on there.. with the speaker wire, make sure to get them with two rcas on each side

Re: Minijack To Rca

with mini jack are you talking 3/32 or 1/8th... *** the sku for the panel mount of those is

274.249 - 1/8th stereo panel mount
274.245 - 3/32 stereo panel mount

42.2430 - 24ft speaker wire with rca on ends.. all i see is 24 ft cut it in half and connect to grounds to the lead on the jack and the then your right and left wires to the other leads

Thanks for the help. I was able to fab my own cable. I could not find the parts on radio shacks site and they tell me there is no longer a published catalog that they can give out. Oh well. I went to greenbrook electronics and got what I needed. I took a set of RCA patch cables cut them, took a panel mounted 1/8" stereo minijack and soldered it together. Mounted in the dash. Now iPod tunes via car audio system. I figured from the beginning that I would have to make the cable by hand but was thinking someone must make a ready made. I guess I will start to sell them

Your putting line level into an RCA input, couldn't that damage the head unit?

Apparently not. The RCA input on the head unit in this case must be line level because I have the iPod at full volume and the music level is the same as the CD when I switch sources.
