hey guys i decided to get a sub woofer, but when i look through the the 95 200sx se-r i found no hole on the firewall for the wire to run through. since i dont wanna do any drilling you guys ever run this wire and know exactly where i can snug the wire though with out any drillin gor taking out the dash nor fender? TY
I put my power wire threw the fender, i didnt take it out just pushed it threw with a hanger i think it was and pulled it threw and put it under my carpet...
You can run it where the throttle cable comes through or drill your own hole. I don't recommend running it through the fender and through the door jamb. The constant friction of the door opening and closing against it can wear through the insulation and lead to a car fire. Take the time to do it right.
there is a rubber grommet on the passenger side on the fender well in my 98... i just cut that and pushed it through. It pops out behind the glove box. Ive been thinking of running it under the car though... Im not sure yet. But i want to go with a larger gauge and it would be easier to put it under the car.
if you look at the pic below you can see the red wire running across the back of the engine bay. Thats my power cable.

I ran my power cable through the driver side fender as well. I popped a hole in the rubber grommet and then ran the cable to the trunk.
Two years later (today) I removed the cable and inspected it. Looks like new. No cuts or anything. I didn't feel like drilling a hole in the firewall for the cable, so the fender idea worked for me

Saying it worked and condoning it are two different things. Sharing knowledge on this forum should be about doing things the *right* way. Glad for you, but it has been disasterous for many. I WATCHED a car catch on fire out front of an audio store of all places. it was quickly extinguished, but it was caused by the ole power wire through the door jamb routine. I'd rather take 5 extra minutes w/ a drill and a coat hanger than take the chance of one day having to extinguish my car. Just my .02.
with my 96 you have to remove the glove compartment and the a/c evaporator and there is a small hole for it to drain out of.. you can run the wire through that hole as long as you make sure itll drain correctly...
I also ran it down the center of the inside of the car under the carpet, I wonder will that be ok with the heat?

Should be fine under the carpet. Man, you went through some work to run that. Maybe I'm the only one who likes putting adding holes to their car!
lol, well i also did my boost controler and boost gauge at the same time... it wasn t that much work its like 8 screws total. besides the engine was outta the bay and i wasnt gonna let that opportunity pass since i had been putting off doing it for like a year, lol

Thanks for the advice John. Next sound system I put in will be done the *RIGHT* way. Come to think of it - wouldn't the fuse protect you against a fire though? This is why it's located very close to the battery...

Yes it would but not everyone uses the fuse(points to self), the fender thing looks like crap, and it is always better to be safe.
On most Nissans, the easiest way to run power is the following:
Turn wheel all the way to the left. Remove the splash guard. Remove 6lbs of dirt and leaves that are stuck near your doorjamb causing rust. Puncture small hole in factory grommet (used for factory wiring). Run wire accordingly. Cover wire with flex loom and zip tie every 6-8 inches along factory loom. Replace splash guard. Clean up dirt/rust/leaf mixture with dustpan and broom.
