Need help choosing door speakers

I need some help choosing speakers for my 92 SER. I know that they are 6.5 (6.75). I have narrowed it to:

Infinity 6002I
Plus One+ polypropylene woofer
hi-roll rubber surround
textile dome tweeter
frequency response 53-21,000 Hz
recommended power range 2-60 watts RMS
peak power handling 180 watts
sensitivity 92 dB
top-mount depth 2-1/8"

and

Alpine sps-107A
· aluminum-coated polypropylene woofer cone
· rubber surround
· swiveling titanium-coated PEI balanced dome tweeter
· frequency response 35-30,000 Hz
· recommended power range 2-40 watts RMS
. peak power 200 watts
· sensitivity 92 dB
· top-mount depth 2-1/4"
· 1-year warranty

I can get either for like $60. I will be running them off the headunit so I dont want anything too great. Im no audiophile, just want some clean sounding speakers. I have some JBLs in the back that were in the car when i bought it. Im leaving those just for rear fill. Which would u coose? or is there something better that Im missing? Thanks for the info.

Re: Need help choosing door speakers

I dont have any experience with the infinity, but I installed a set of those Alpine type S in my friend's NX and they sound great running off his Pioneer deck.

Re: Need help choosing door speakers

Out of those two choices, id get the infinities. The ref series sounds excellent when running off a high powered HU or small amp. Those alpines are probably better if you plan on amping them...i dont know, this may be worthless, but in my experience if you get speakers that have a metal cone (or metal coated) then tend to crave a lot of power to sound good...anyways, id take the infinities.

edit: Im running Polk db650 off of a Alpine HU and they sound great! Check them out too

Re: Need help choosing door speakers

Polk audio definitely has good quality speakers. Alpine in all car audio is pretty much the top brand. The Alpines have a broader frequency range. Human ears can only hear from about 20Hz up to 20,000Hz so the only difference in frequency range would be the Alpines would have more bass output-which will make a big difference if you don't have a sub or any bigger speakers. However, if you are using a stock HU either one will be a huge improvement over factory paper speakers. Both are respectable brands and should sound good. I personalyl am using Pioneer Premiers, and they sound great.

Re: Need help choosing door speakers

Thanks for the help guys but I got a great deal over on altimas.net from a member $80 shipped for these
Infinity Kappa 63.5i

Plus One C.M.M.D. woofer cone
hi-roll rubber surround allows greater woofer movement
1" C.M.M.D. dome tweeter
1-1/8" metallic planar EMIT supertweeter
2-way external crossovers (18 dB/octave, 3,500 Hz high- and low-pass)
sensitivity 90 dB
frequency response 45-22,000 Hz
recommended power range 2-75 watts RMS
peak power handling 225 watts
top-mount depth 2-3/16"
adapter rings for 6-3/4" applications included
3-year warranty

Im just wondering if the 22 watts RMS will be grossly underpowering them.
I have an amp sitting here RF 400.4. that i was gonna run 2 12's with.

Do u think that Ill get better sound runnning the fronts to these and then running a sub of the rears (50x2+150 watts RMS) or running these off the deck and running 2 12's (200x2). The power Im telling u is what the owners manual on teh amp lists.

The opinions will no doubt be endless, but my bottom line choice, based on my scarily geeky kid (now 23 who does commercial wireless internet after getting bored with being a factory Benz wrench) and a few cars' experience, has been Rockford-Fosgates. He also prefers (until you go bigtime) Pioneer head units. I won't even start on external amps and woofers. I use my wife's CRV with Pioneer 4400 and four R-F directional tweeter units as a reference; I have yet to hear anything under a $grand that will match it.

Ok i bought the kappas all ready. Should I power them with the amp (50 watts) and run a single 12" (150 watts) or run them with the HU (22watts) and run 2 12"s (200 watts) each?

I would power those kappas with an external amp. Depends on what subs you plan on running.

IMHO, Rockrod Fosgate took a sh*t when they went mass market with Best Buy. They're just living off their name now, I don't think anyone considers their line to be competition quality anymore. It just isn't the same as was it was 6-8 years ago, or there's better products out there for the money. I still have a Punch 55.2 amp (back when they were grey with gold end caps) that does well powering the pair of Punch 8's it was bought to power. Right now I have 2 pair MB Quart DSE 216 components and a Coustic 481QE to power them. I'm still finishing up the install but they fit like OEM in the rear and required a spacer ring up front to get them to fit. The magnet is right up against the window channel. I'll let you all know how much I like them once I give them a listen.
