im redoing all the power and ground wires in my NX again but the new one im adding to the list is the groud wire for the Head Unit.
Where would be a good place to run a ground for that. For some reason the factory ground did not exist when i got my car.
I checked in the FSM and there is a grounding point on the drivers side of the car below the dash and on the passenger side but both of them are farther away than i would like them to be.
The deck is grounded through the mounting brackets. When I relocated my deck to the cubby-hole, I had to run a ground wire to the side of the deck (used a mounting screw to secure to the deck) for the deck to even power up.

ok well i havent seen a nissan yet with a ground in the harness how u usually have to reground it to the chassis or let the antenna ground it which isnt really recommended. But i think there is a bracket behind the radio in the b13 that may be a good ground but just make sure your ground in no longer than 12inches. o yeah if u need any wire diagrams im a installer at a circuit city.

I recently had to run brand new wires for my headunit and i grounded the HU and relay to the metal part under the dash. If you pull the bottom part off (4 screws) there ar 2 bolts near the center console that I used. I tested with my multimeter and it gave me the same volts as when I touched the + and - on my battery so I figured it was a good ground.
i thought the ground was not to be longer than 3 feet not 12 in? i could be wrong. Well tonight i found a spot to run a ground. I ran the wire to the passenger side of the car just below the factory ground point m67 i think it is in the FSM. Theres another one right below it but i cant remember the number right now.
But my wire is just under 3 feet long. This is longer than i like but its a clean install. And i used a 12gauge wire. Its over kill but im using it to ground my EQ and the head unit.

the ground is suppose to be short so when is grounded it doesnt have to go far for the ground. If i the ground is too long it may cause engine noise or worse.
thats odd because the factory ground point for the head unit i know is atleast 3feet away, Because theere are only 3 body ground point for the front dash and none of them are right behind it, they are all way off to the right or left. Ive checked in the FSM.
Why do u need a FSM to ground something? Look for metal and test your connection with a multimeter. Its that simple. Test your connesction and compare it to the voltage u get from the battery. Mine works perfectly so u can argue if u want, but my HU is in and works great with no engine noise
RF_fanatice i was responding to themonster4doors' comment, i guess i shouldve quoted it.
But I know you can test with a multimeter for voltage and continuity but i cant do that because i dont have a decent volt meter with me at the moment. And I want to do with without having to break out the drill. The other part is im too lazy to completely take apart the dash so i can fit a drill back there.
i tested the new ground wire tonight and it works perfect. it was deffinately the weak spot on my system. I should invest in either dielectric grease or that conductive stuff for grounds because grounds do not stay clean long in my car.
When I put my cd player in my b13 I grounded the wire right inside the hole there was a pre existing hole in the metal there I used i think a #8 sheet metal srew an it's worked fine.
