HID question

OK so I found a brand new set locally. If the are for H4 headlights I think im going to get them. Now my question is this. THey are said to be 8000k, I'm not sure on what that means, but does that tell what color they are, and if they are a certain color, is there a way you can change the color of them by like buying a new bulb? I know HIDs are different than normal headlights. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

James

you can change the headlight color by purchasing a lower kelvin temperature H4 aftermarket HID specified bulb.

for the most light output i would recommend 4100-5300 kelvin temperature for the most lumenens and even 6000 K will be decent though it has a lower lumenen output.

for more information you can do a search or read on www.hidforum.com

Putting HID bulbs in a stock reflector housing doesn't work very well, it will just be really bright with a lot of glare, but won't light up the road anymore than what the reflector can do.

yup you're best bet is to buy the clear headlight housings, the knis knack ones. Liuspeed can actually get them for you. They are H4 conversion too

I have the 8000k's in my stock housings...Yes they have a bit of glare. They are a lot brighter. However, because there is so much glare due to the stock reflectors I actually had to aim my lights down quite a bit so as not to blind people. I've been pulled over twice since I've had these for the last 2 years. Once was because they were 'too bright', female cop, go figure...the other was when it was foggy and I got a ticket for them being too blue, I atribute this to the area I was in as they have street racing issues and look to pull ppl over for random sh*t. I haven't been harassed at all since and that's after following cops and everything but realize that there is a risk with getting them.

8000k's are more on the bluish side versus the purple side since the kelvin is so high. The pics also make them look a lot bluer then they look in person.

Not the best pics and I don't have the fogs anymore but it give you some idea
