So, George and Bruce were saying not to plan anything unless you can follow all the way through with it. So I contacted the group that puts on the texas mile. Basically a 120' rolling start and then you're speed is clocked at the end of a mile. They use an 8000' airport runway so it is very safe. The organization holding it is NASA. So the record was 252 mph held by a Hiyabusa until the last meet some LSR car hit 257 mph. So thinking it might be cool for us, if cost efective and we could get enough people to make a day of it I called them and asked them to put together a turnkey, 1 day event. Keep in mind they have run as few as 40-80 cars, over 2 days and it costs $135 to run. Some people have done 20+ runs. Hell I would've driven out from Cali to run this at the convention.
Well I got the $#. ..... $10,000, maybe less if the city charges less for the airport. What WHAT! I had high hopes for this, but I don't think it's possible. Unless we had some major sponsorship.
Any ideas? or are we drag racing on Saturday?

Get busy, thilly thailor. <damn, I sound like Rockwood>
sh*t like any of you lazy cheap asses would drive to BFE North Nevada to do it
If we were able to get the runway, we'd still have to find a way to read our speed and maybe provide print outs, etc..... otherwise the rest of the stuff could possibly get worked out. At the same time I dont think we could make this too big of an event, maybe 10 cars max... Ill see if I can find the right person to talk to..but lets not get our hopes up
Geo Cabaniss field is in Corpus Christi, isnt it???
I remember that place.... The base security force still does all of their "Tactical" driving training there.... that kinda sucks.... Last I heard Aircraft arent even landing there any more, an occasional touch and go or emergency landing, I bet they just didnt want it to turn into a big event, more liability/security issues... or if anybody died, itd be the militarys fault.. yadda yadda

bah, i hit an estimated 170mph on the stock gearing (7750rpm in 5th is about 170 or so mph). G20 gearing is good for 185mph on stock diameter tires.
The calculators I've always used/seen have put an se-r at about 150-155 at 7450 redline (160-165 or so at 7800) and a g20 at 170-175ish w/ stock tires and stock 7450rpm redline?
