Simple question for the Australians

Hey guys, I wanted to know for sure which way your toilets flush? ours spin clockwise, do yours really spin counterclockwise?

Well, we don't really have the same type of toilets as you! From what I experienced with U.S. loos when I was there a couple of years ago is that the loo is nearly entirely full of water, and when you flush it, it drains out, quite slowly, so the water swirls around on its way out.

Ours work differently, there is only a small amount of water in the loo, and when flushed, a large amount of water is dumped into the bowl from the top which pushes all the bad stuff through the pipes and out. The water churns around and is ejected that fast that it doesn't swirl in any direction!

That said, when draining water from something like a sink, our water does spin counter-clockwise. Answer your question??

wow, so its actually different!

I just discovered that my toilette goes down counter clockwise, but I think its because of the way the water enters the bowl.

everything else goes down clockwise.

like Nuthan said it's not a myth water when drained through a funnel in the northern hemyspher will spin clockwise and anti clockwise in the southern hemyspher and if you are standing on the equator it will go straight down no wirlpool effect at all.

So what if you have liquid water at either the north or south pole? will it spin extra fast?
