!!!I NEED YOUR HELP!!!
What is the challenge?:
Well I have a few friends that, simply put adore mustangs (we're always going back and forth debating on sentras and mustangs). We agreed that we would each build our preferred car (me = sentra se-r and him = '94 mustang GT) using no more than 5000 dollars worth of modifications to see which of the two cars would come out on top. In order to tell which car comes out on top we'll be running the cars through several types of tests which are still to be determined. Up to this point it seems that it will be best lap times around a road course, and fastest 1/4 mile time while also running a skid pad and slalom for G's and time respectively.
Rules:
- Maximum 5000 dollars worth of modifications - if cars start out with mods then the market value of those mods will be counted against the $5000 mark.
- the results of different tests will be weighted differently. EX: The drag race may not count as much as the lap times around the road course. These weights are still to be determined.
- Any and all modifications go as long as the total market value of all of the modifications to not exceed $5000.
- the cost of labor and dyno time is not factored into the $5000 limit - I can spen months on the dyno if necessary
- both competitors can have any and all safety equipment deemed necessary without effecting the 5000 dollar limit. This means roll cages, racing seats, harnesses, fire extinguishers, and possibly will effect battery relocation as well.
My Dilemma:
I need the community's experience and help with this one. There are many modifications that I feel will be of benefit to me and my car in this challenge but I cannot afford them all due to the $5000 cap. So, I need to know which mods are the most crucial and fit under the 5k cap.
I understand that the most valuable addition to this is my own personal track experience and I hope to get out there ASAP to get as much of this as possible.
In the mean time I'd love to hear your impressions and input. I need your help on this one. It's time to prove that Ford really dropped the ball in the mid-90's.
It would be great to get the word out on this one. If there are other threads or forums that any of you feel this would fit into then please link to it there and/or let me know so I can post this there as well.

P.S. I admittedly double posted this one (classic sentra section) so if it must be removed then remove it. I'm not trying to make waves, I'm just trying to get as much coverage of this as possible. Thanks.

Fight for as little weight in the 1/4mile as possible, and drop hints like "you best be quick in the strights man" to make him think youre gonna own him in the 1/4mile.... Then spend most the money you get on Suspension/Tires. Then spend as much as you can in practicing on a road course and auto-x.
...make sure to spend some time perfecting your "Victory Dance" as well. That, of course, is the whole point isnt it
BTW: is there any prize other then the "Victory Dance"?

SR20Racer...Were you the one in the video that waved bye-bye to the cobra? Lol.
That was me. I don't want to post a link directly to the video but whoever wants to PM/ IM me (jme921) I can then link you to the video and a few more. I also have one of my buddies T28 G20 racing my car. [thread whore done]
^You my friend have gotten so damn much respect from me just cause of that! Lol! Lets just say, "Its Cobra killin time!!!" . Haha Sweet video. I'm also done! lol
I've tried to convince him to add an auto-x but he's against it. I'd love to get him in the auto-x but I think he already knows he'd have a tough time there. I'll keep workin on it though.
Prize other than the victory dance? Not really. The pride alone will be prize enough. We've bickered over sentras and mustangs for years now. I'd love to put him in his push rod place.
I figure I gotta' get tires first. That's gonna' be the best addition. next will be a combo of motor/suspension. Which parts though? That's where I need more advice.
