Tall people with helmets

How do you guys fit in your SE-R's (I have a B13, but I imagine others are the same). When I try to sit up completely straight, my helmet pushes into the cieling. If I dont, then the top of my knees hits the bottom of the steering wheel. Im about 6 foot 2. I have always just dealt with it, but it kind of sucks sometimes.

Custom bracket that moves my race seat lower with modified crossmembers that allow the mounts to be set lower in the car.

And I am short!

I'm 6'2" as well. I don't have a sunroof... which helps immensely. Get an deep-dish aftermarket wheel AND an Sparco extension. Puts the wheel in your lap, allowing much more room for the legs and better leverage on the wheel.

Being 6'4" and owning a hardtop NX (probably the worse for headroom), I move my seat as far forward without my knee's interfering with the steering wheel. I then recline back until I have enough headroom. It sucks... but my helmet doesn't hit.

For this year I have already purchased a used Sparco Evo seat and have a friend that will custom build a seat bracket to drop my seat height by a couple of inches. I'm tired of the bad seating position and the hard bumps that hurt my head

I'm 6'2" and I fit fine in both my 200 with a sunroof, and my Sentra without one. I sit close to the wheel all the time also. I recline my seat about 2 notches form straight up, and that does the trick. I haven't had any issues with my head hitting the roof, but I usually open the sunroff cover when I drive the 200.

I don't think height resulting from leg length has much to do with headroom. I'm 5'11" with a 29 inch inseam. That means my torso is pretty long and I've got to be careful on cars that I buy, as sunroof equipped cars simply don't fit me or I don't fit them. Custom seat brackets are usually the best way to go for me. I could never autocross my ex-wife's 92 SE-R because it was a sunroof car...no problem with my 91 though. I'm still not sure how people drive Miatas. All I see is the top of the windshield.

Once I put NX seat brackets in my SE-R, I gained just enough to not hit the headliner. I'm 6'3"

damn. im 5'11" too, but i have a 32-33" inseam, you must look like a true SE-R monkey (or gorilla)...

everything fits me fine, as long as i dont try to sit upright too much. in my G20, i have a tendecy to hit the roof in the corner where the door is. scared the crap out of me the first time it happened (damned leather seats means you are sliding in the seat pretty fast by the time you hit it).

in the racecar, we built custom mounts that move the seat inboard a couple of inches (no more center console to dodge and it also keeps you farther from the x-brace) and the seat mount bars sit about 1" off the floor of the car.

I sat in a new Miata, and my knee hit the steering wheel when I used the brake.

My knees hit when I use the brake on my se-r . I don't want to hassle with custom brackets really. I do have a set of nx seat rails that I got from a junkyard awhile back. Those will probably help the helmet issue, but my knees will probably still hit. I think those and the steering wheel, like maxQ suggested, should do the trick.

i take the pads out of my seat when i race it helps a little. i also have a 50mm steering wheel spacer that lets me sit farther back so i can slouch a little.

Do two things...

1. Slouch
2. Buy kneepads

No, seriously. kneepads look stupid, but they really help. I'm 6'2" and I have the posture of an ape. Provides just enough clearance.

Reclining the seat a notch helps, too.

When I auto-x'ed my car with the full interior in the car, my helmet was just barely nudging the headliner. But now, road racing it, my friend and I fabbed up a bracket to drop my ass on the floor, and with the Kirkey race seat and no a headliner, it's all good now. By the way, I'm 6'5.

So how difficult is fabbing up a new bracket?

I'm 6'1" with a hardtop NX2000 (yes there is less headroom with the hardtop). I had to get a Corbeau seat, hack out the aftermarket bracket and reweld it to place me lower (actually PantyChrist from this board did that for me, great job).

My head still hit the roof, so I had to rip out the stock headliner. I just fit now. Barely.

miatas... bah.. try sitting in an Elise... i had to do lateral presses to get out of the car and sitting in it... well you don't really get in the car as much as you put it on... my kness hit everything... shifter, e-brake, wheel... def. built for small, petite, English dudes...

i'm 5'11" with a 30inseam and have no fitment issues..well none that bother me... my shin hits the center console and my knee the window knob... but i only notice after an event... the mild contusions... head clearance is decent but i have a hard top... prolly have less than 1" from the top of my helmet to the headliner

It's a bitch.

And buddy and me spent probably 6 hours or so making one at his fabrication shop going back and forth putting in and pulling out the seat. But the end result is an awesome 11 gauge steel bracket that would hold an elephant down in a 5g turn.
