The proper term of heat cycle is what i ment to say. Sorry for making it sound like a newbie post. I have a temp gun to tell tire temps, what should i bring them up to before leting them cool off, to make sure they are propely heat cycled??

I usually drive mine on the street for a little bit just to scrub them in.

I don't have V710 but have Toyo RA1's. To break them in, I ran them for a 20 min track session, switched tires and then let them cool overnight. If you don't have access to a track, then I'd say take them out on the highway for about 30-40mins just so that some heat will generate.

I've found a good way to put a heat cycle on a set of road race tires is to use part of a qualifying seession. Five laps only. The first two are to bring the car and tires progressively up to speed. Next, put in two clean and quick laps (usually the best laps that the tires will EVER produce) and then a cool down lap. Return to the pits, take tire temps and get those hot tires OFF the car. Be sure to let the tires cool overnight and you'll have a good set to rely on for the race!

These are just for autox set up only. We dont have any road courses in south dakota, which sucks. I ran them on the street up to about 120 degrees, then took them off the car. Ran them the next day at the autoX, and won DSP class, first time i have won that class in 3 years of trying. The tires reached about 130 degrees at the autox and showed perfect wear paterns. I am very inpressed!!

For full stick, they should be in the 200 range. You're barely seeing their potential at 120-130. Take them to a road course and get a few hot laps on them and you'll see what I mean. At slow speeds you'll hear them stick to the tarmac. Kinda like peeling hot electrical tape off a countertop. Too bad they don't allow tire warmers for autox. Congrats on the win.

^^^ actually hank, the 180-200F range is for roadcourse tires not autocross tires. The autocross tires are usually designed to work in the 140F range +/-. I'm pretty sure the V710 is an autocross tire...

It was a fast autoX and not very technical, I am sure when i start pushing the car harder, in tighter turns, i am sure they will heat up more. I just need to make sure i have my camber and tire pressure right.

I've autocrossed 710's for a couple of years now,and they are happiest at about 120-130 degrees.Anymore than that and they go away pretty quick.Always keep a water sprayer with you,and spray them before you think they're too hot;if you wait, the heat never goes away.Great tires, decent wear.I get about 20 events a year out of a set.I run 225/50-15 on my 96 Se-R,in DSP.Great regional ass kicker, but nationallygets whored out by lots of BMW madness.Congrats on yer win!

I think you're thinking of the Hoosier A series. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2

Let them sit in the hot summer sun and they'll get that hot. Spray them down with water....you're a funny guy.

Yes, I was referring to the A and R series of hoosiers tires. I didn't think the temps were that far apart between the different tire mfg's

I would have to agree with you, from what i have figured out in the one event i have ran as well.

As for tire temps, road racing and autoX tire temps are different anyway, but since i am sticking to autoX i will go with the lower temp compounds.
