After the Carbotech deal, I was wondering what other options we have for these pads? The car is autocrossed almost weekly, with a few HPDE2 summit and vir weekends every couple of months through the summer. I am currently on xp8's and ultimates rear. I emailed Cobalt (so far the best option) and they will have a pad, but need a 3 week min, lead time. Ive heard that a hawk pad? (a mitsu turbo??) will work, but dont know which one. I will have to do something soon though.
I love my pads, but am loyal to Matt. I will not support a company that dicked a friend like that.
I think Porterfield makes them in their R4 compound. At least I used *something* when I had AD22VF brakes on my old '93. I don't think I've used anything other than Porterfield and that other brand (that I will never buy again) in 7-8 years of track events.
Well other than Raybestos "Brute Stop" pads on my Firebird when I needed something in a pinch.

Look for 1990-1992 Eclipse/turbo/AWD front pads. The FMSI number is D484. Hawks part number is indeed HB213. I believe they have HP+ and Blue availible. Try calling Essex Part Services (www.essexparts.com), they are a huge seller of Hawk. Ask for Amber. Tell her I sent you.
I am not 100% sure, but I think my departure has been very positive for business at Cobalt...
I called Carbotech to get my last set of pads because I was in a crunch. The guy on the other end of the phone had no clue who I was, had none of my information, and was lost when I said I had NX brakes on a SE-R. Those bastards.
Next pads will be something different so I'll keep watching this thread to see if someone finds a decent source.

I run Performance Autosport in Richmond, Va.
I run the Hawk Blue, HB213. I get them from Raceshopper.com for about $100 per set.
As Matt can attest to, I could not keep the Carbotech pads under my car; the backing plates were bending and the pad material cracking. I liked their bite, but at 20% more than Hawks I could not justify them over the Hawk Blues. - GA

$10 says you get SE-R pads.
Did you speak to Dan? Clue. Less.

My experiment to try to solve that was shot down. By the new management.
I'm the one with the f#king Engineering Degree too.....

You know if you didn't go so damn fast, you wouldn't have these problems..

That's why I'm sending as much business as I can to Essex. Those guys know brakes, have a decent product line, and won't f#k you over. The Mitsu pad will work for the NX caliper guys. The AD18 guys are just out of luck. It's Porterfield or Carbotech for them....
Been there done that twice in my life, Matt, didn't like it either time; second was just a few years ago - scary being on the street at 60. Hope life gets better for ya soon. Sounds like these guys are after track pads - what from Essex should I use for street/autox? Like most of us, ain't never gonna touch your former bunch ever again.

Jerry, I use Axxis Ultimates for the street/autox, and they work great. They do dust, but I've never felt like I needed more pad. That is until I put my Panther + pads in.
