Should I or should I not (Auto-X question)?

Well, I've been wondering lately...

I was about to turbo my Sentra for next year, since I was running in SP and thought I was not competitive. However, I recently recieved the rankings for this year and it shows something "promising" for next year (this year was my first and I was able to beat quite a few regulars in my class). Plus I have a feeling I'd have to start everything from the beginning, being turboed, with the car being a lot different.

That said, should I still turbo the car and go to SM or stay in my category, sell the turbo stuff I had already gathered and go with bolt-ons? I need answers solely based on Auto-X and Club Racing (only for fun & seat time), since I don't drag. Suspension, wheels and tires are done, btw, apart from sway bars, that I will buy soon, wether I go turbo or not.

Go ahead and run SM. Don't matter if you're competitive, just have fun. Personally I would pick the faster crowd as fast competition means you get fast too.

The move from DSP to SM is very small as far as index perspective.

For example (not exact, and I'm not doing a search for the exact numbers)

STS time of 60.0 sec would equal a
DSP time of 58.2 sec would equal a
SM time of 57.9 sec

For me to move from STS to DSP would mean I would have to make up a lot of time, but then the move to SM (with a turbo) would make more sense. It's a less jump with the index game but larger gains with power.

[edit] I hope that made sense [/edit]

Do what you want with the car because you want to do it and worry about the competition later. Me, I'll be throwing on some R's next year and moving to DSP.

That's great! That way, I won't be the only one with a Sentra running in DSP. I have a strange feeling that there are very few of us... :p

For now, I have made my decision not to go through with the setup for the next season. I'll be concentrating on getting more experience before I go any further. At the same time this'll give me more time to gather all the stuff needed for the setup without being in a hurry.

I might go through with the clutch and flywheel in advance, though, since these are allowed in SP...

What suspension setup are you running?

What tires have you been running in DSP?

Suspension:
Front: B13 KYB AGX + GC coilovers (350 spring rate)
Rear: B14 KYB AGX + GC coilovers (350 spring rate)

For tires, I ran on street tires for the whole season (Hankook Ventus Plus') in SP last year and managed to rank 14th out of 42 competitors (note that there is no street touring class here, well until next year, that is, but I managed to beat a few people running R's). I will probably be running on Victoracers next year. I'm just sick of street tires, plus I had a small taste of the R compounds at the end of last season and won't be able to live without them for another season...
