I am still working on the details of getting the Convention website up for people to start registering. The hotel we are using is the Embassy Suites. The rate is $119 a night with 4 people per night. Just to give a heads up.
I have also been receiving some great raffle prizes. I can't say what they are, but I wouldn't mind winning most of them.
cool, thanks for hte update eric, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate your hard work with this years convention. I really really hope I can make it, its right at the end of the rugby season, so its going to probably be a last night decision.

The last day to get a hotel room is Sept 30th. The convention itself is Oct 31st through Nov 2nd. I have a limited amount of rooms for people flying or driving in on Oct 30th.

If you are thinking that $119 a night is a lot, let me tell you about the Embassy. Each night from 5:30 to 7:30, there is an open bar. Not all mixed drinks are free, but most are. Each morning there is a cook to order breakfast. This is not like the "breakfast" at some places with milk, OJ, and some donuts from the store. This is a breakfast like grandma made on Sundays. There is also a Ruth Chris steak house in the hotel. The $119 a night doesn't cover that, but at least you won't have to drive to eat dinner or something. There is also a free shuttle to and from the airport, so if you fly in and are not renting a car, you don't have to worry about finding a ride.
As some of you know I think I drink my share of the room cost at the the nightly open bar so it ends up being a free stay since I save so much money on booze If I make it up in time for breakfast then its an added bonus lol!

Were you the guy at Carlisle a couple years ago that woke up with a beer in the morning and drove this turbo classic spinning the tires with Nathan as a passenger.
Well I was at Carlisle with my det swapped se-r and I did need a couple beers in the morning to shake off my hangover and I remember taking another se-r dude with me so that was most likely me

Ok adults, the convention in NOT about drinking. Why must everyone use it as an excuse to get trashed? Do that in your hometown, not around a DRIVING convention.

How many times have we told you this Ben... get a life!
I (now), like yourself, am a non-drinker. However, if people want to drink and have fun, let them. To each their own and whatever floats your boat.
Lots of SE-R guys get together every year and use the convention *AFTER HOURS* to let loose and have some fun and drink. Yes, it is a driving convention during the day. When have you seen any SE-R convention attendee drinking while driving or driving drunk? Never!
I will not be drinking at the convention this year (despite what Lee and Matt want to say but I, unlike yourself, will be hanging out with those getting trashed and I will be enjoying my (sober) self and laughing it up with all of them
Get a life and quit your complaining already

I just don't understand and despise the attitude. The attitude that "I am going to get drunk" is just plain wrong in my book. What a waste of your short life to get drugged and act stupider than you normally would. Everyone who drinks has had at least one negative experience with it, normally quite a few. Drinking is useless and, for MANY people on this Earth, can make life hurtful. How many alcoholic mothers and fathers are there out there? How many lives have been hurt by alcohol? Or any other mind-altering drug for that matter?
There are those that choose to drink for the taste of it. To those who can do this and keep control, I applaud you. But the vast majority of drinkers do so to get stupid and sloshed. Alcohol, by in large, has greatly negative impacts on people, and this majority attitude exemplefied above I abhor and admonish. Take the time you want to use getting drunk and go do something useful.
Thank you, Kieran, for at least one other people who will stay sober at this SE-R convention. I just hate knowing that what is always remembered by in large are the drinking experiences and not the people, cars, and track experiences. It's sad.
Have you known anyone with alcoholic abusive mothers/fathers/spouses Kieran? If not, then you don't understand. Drinking is serious business. It is not to be taken lightly as most do.

Did you read my message? Go back and read it again. I didn't make lite of anything. You're dense. You may just make me return to drinking!
I not disagreeing with you i am just saying, keep you opinions to yourself.
If you dont like people getting drunk then ignore them. Dont write some big speech about how alchol has hurt soemone or destroyed someones life. We have all heard that before, and ya know what, it didnt effect us then and it isint going to effect us now.
Just to let you know, i used to be a non-drinker and still went out. When everyone got trashed, i still had a good time. I didnt let everyone else getting drunk affect me, and i didnt push my opinion on everyone. They had a good time and i had a good time.
So what i am saying is RELAX and let everyone do their own thing.
Sorry. Just everytime someone has a flippant attitude about drinking, ESPECIALLY about the convention when all people remember IS the drinking, it REALLY rubs me the wrong way.
I respectfully request that people concentrate on the REAL convention issues and not the side ones. If there is another thread after this convention where the majority of the posts are about the night of drinking experiences, I'll not be smiling.
