http://www.sr20forum.com/showpost.ph...9&postcount=27

hey guys

i am building some bolt-in adjustable bumpsteer kits.

these will include a drop-in stud that allows you to flip the tierod under the steering knuckle, rodend, jam nuts, tierod to rodend coupler and adjusting spacers.

$150 shipped

these are bolt-in kits, that DO NOT require any machine work
i should have them done in about 3 weeks

...I've got a question about your 'male rodend'..........

.........okay that didn't sound right........
...Is there no need for a collar for the bearing or a sleeve for the stud-threads??

Chuck, what are the "specs" or "suggested usage" for your kit?

Is there any range-of-adjustability it was designed for, any specific "lowered-height" it may be suited for, etc.?

no there isn't, but after another look at the angles i'm going to have to use mis-alignment bushings to get a better throw at the pivot

these will move the ball pivot under the steering knuckle minimum of .25", so the adjustment range will be 1.75" - 3" or so lower than stock.

It appears that the stud is tapered... will you sell just the stud?

no i can't sell the studs seperately - i'd end up with an extra set of couplers

how were you intending on attaching them to your tierods???

Do you have a bumpsteer gauge and the means to graph out the bumpsteer on something with a really common ride height (say one inch lower, ie hyperco's). I'm just wondering if 1.75 inches lower is to much or not for a car thats not super low. If it will help with bumpsteer on a mildly lowered car I'm definatly in for a set.

i am re-thinking the set-up (i hope it's not too late to stop production).

i only have a stock suspension to work/measure from.

after reading this thread
http://www.sr20forum.com/showthread....****=bumpsteer

it seems mildly lowered cars would still want the rodends above the knuckle (but with the ball pivot lowered). after looking through aurora's catalog i don't see a rodend that wouldn't bind through the stock suspensions 26*+ (as i measure it) of travel. aurora specs thier 5/8" rodend at 26* of travel. a little too tight for my tastes!!!

the 1.75" below stock ball pivot measurement came from mounting the rodend under the knuckle using "Misalignment Inserts" that would increase the travel of the rodends.

i suppose if you are using a suspension that reduces travel, you could get away with not using the inserts. this would lose about 3/8" making the ball pivot about 1.375" below stock.

enough for now.............. i got some investigating to do

ok, we are going with a double sided stud with the taper in the middle

this will allow mounting over or under the steering knuckle

IMPORTANT NOTE

these come very close to binding on a stock suspension!!!

how well these would suit your application i cannot predict

buyers assume all resposibility for fit, function, set-up and safety of this product.

i should have these available in 3-4 weeks

thanks

it changes the angle of the tie rods so when you lower a car and the suspension move ie going around the corner the toe does not change due to a binding actuion that happens bc the angle of the tie rods are in conflict of that of the control arms

its a good thing
