So, I have a 1 y/o Disco Potato that started leaking, so the seals were bad. A friend linked me to the Garrett website which listed that a select number of distributors will service the turbo at a discounted price. (Brand new CHRA section for the DP was $899.99)
So, I was expecting to pay around $700 or so. Well, ATP Turbo was listed and I e-mailed them to find out they charge $349 for a brand new replacement CHRA section + service fee for inspecting, and replacing (including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly, hence the svc fee).
So I am getting a damn-near brand-new replacement DP for $450 shipped!
MODS-please move if you feel this belongs in another section, thanks!

Wow thats cheap! hmmm... I wonder if it will fit in my GTI-R compressor and turbine housing..
Edit: I forgot to mention (the reason I read this thread..) They have great service. I ordered a few things form them last month and I got them quickly. The only down side I see is the pricing on the small stuff is a bit high IMHO.
The turbo has been shipped back on Friday (should get it this week). Total cost, ~$500 including shipping to and from Maryland!!!
Now, onto the bad news. Received confirmation that the turbo was bad due to install. 2 years ago, I got a turbo install/tune from Jason at JGY and have backed him in the past years on countless threads. Well, I have done a 180* turn and will NEVER deal with them again. ATP Turbo informed me that EVERY SINGLE oil and coolant fitting was incorrect which lead to the premature death of my GT28RS. The turbo has NEVER been touched since the turbo install (car has been down due to cracked ring lands on 3 pistons since 8/06, turbo install was 6/05).
Now...I picked up my car from JGY and they didn't zip-tie a coolant line which caused me a busted line on my way home from picking up my car (about 100miles north of JGY Customs). Not having ANY tools, as I just picked up my car, this took a few hours on the side on I-81 locating tools and replacement coolant hose and coolant (as, if any of you know, I-81 is in the country and there's an exit every 3-5 miles).
Next...the RR motor went. The ring lands popped and caused problems after months of driving after blowing (closing the gap) on spark plugs. I have seen many other RR motors with broken ring lands and the piston tops don't look too bad after the motor is pulled. Here is mine: (showing what looks like detonation) which they tuned my car as well, so now I need to get the car re-tuned as soon as it's finished.
Now the turbo?!!!! I guess I'm another victim of JGY! I have contacted them and will be sending all information to the BBB cause this is some serious F'ED up SCHIAT! As I said, I have backed them in the past, but can no longer. I have contacted Jason and am awaiting reply from him concerning this matter (only asking for reimbursement of the CHRA replacement cost, which is the LEAST I deserve)
ATP will rarely ever claim responsibility for turbo failure.
The same guys who helped me over the years also did a turbo swap on a GTiR going from the stock T28 to a GT30.
Within a few 100 miles of driving, the new turbocharger had failed.
It was returned to ATP where they claimed it was down bearing failure, due to oil blockage from some sort of sealant.
How sealant managed to get through the tiny hole on the restrictor and completely shut off the oil flow is beyond me, especially when there was no sealant used on the turbo feed piping or connections.
Makes you think huh?

What did they say was specifically wrong with the lines & fittings used. I'm curious how they lead to premature failure.

"We had some serious concerns on every single oil and coolant fitting
> on that turbo. They all compromised flow and reliability.
> Hopefully when you go to install the renewed unit, you will use NEW
> and correct fittings on the oil and coolant ports."
^^^ That is what ATP Turbo e-mailed me.
On the invoice, they wrote "Customer should switch to larger (3/8") coolant fittings. Oil inlet should be inverted flare with no sealant instead of NPT fitting - barb with thread sealant."
I ordered a SS flange for GT30 outlet and they sent the MS one. They shipped out the SS one after i notified them.
But, when the SS flange arrived it wasnt SS 304 plate like they make it out to be. It was cast SS material like what you find on an ssautocrime header flange. ended up using the MS flange instead. not cool.
