Thumbs down JGY ..... sells crap.

several months ago jgy advertised a gtir IC that had been welded for front mounting along with piping. it seemed like a good deal for a complete setup and i thought i might save myself a little time and money.

it was flanged for a blitz ss BOV so i bought that too for $100 extra. the whole thing was $525 shipped.

so this is what i got:

* wet, torn box(this of course was probably the fault of the shipping company)

* 2" crush bent piping, rusty, worn.

* intercooler with gashes and almost every fin on the damn thing bent. the IC is coroded from heat and the fins are crumbling, it has gashes and dings all over it, crushed right into the tubing.

* blitz BOV with missing bolts and torn gasket.

now dont bash me for waiting so long to say anything, i was just looking at the pile of crap "intercooler" sitting on my garage floor and thought i would vent. i know he wont do anything about it because he did say it wasnt "perfect", besides its been far too long now.

You would probably get the best results if you called them first instaed of assuming that they wont try to help you.

I have heard very good things about JGY and also very bad things though

well about a year ago i bought a gti-r complete head for $440 plus shipping. i got it and thought i could just put it on my gti-r block and drive off into the sunset...wrong!!! let me tell you it was so warped it wasn't repairable. so i call jgy and tell him about it. he says he will pro rate what i took off and refund my money...wrong!!! after that phone call i never got thru to him again, never got a phone call, never returned any of the e mails i sent to him about sending it back and getting my refund.

talk about getting scammed!!!!

yikes!! I thought JGY was suppose to be a solid company to work with. I've had good experience with them on my tranny and a few misc parts. Guess you just have to be extra careful no matter whom you buy from...

good grief

1. SR20 in the 200. As a consumer, you have certain duties, just as we do as vendors. If something is wrong with a purchase, your duty is to inform the company in a timely matter so corrections can be made. That piping kit was described to you, pictures were sent to you. The package was insured. Waiting 4 months and then commenting indirectly to us is probably the least effective way to solve it. If the BOV was missing and the parts were damaged, then, not now would be the time to get a refund for you from UPS. Also....from a vendor's stand point, it is very hard to do anything, or understand it for that matter, when a delay of this nature takes place before anything is said.

2. Jimmy, Let's just be up front about this. You want a piece of me? You want to go toe to toe? Just say it. There is a point to where just jumping in and running your mouth is getting to the point of crazy. I will give you the benefit of the doubt because of your current situation that you have, that your mind is running everywhere and you are miss directing your anger at the WRONG people. Now that is said, I'm going to call you out.

Guys, this is what happened.
This kid calls me and asks me for a gti-r head. Claimed he broke his or something, bragging about how much horse power he had, and didn't have the time to fix his. I told him that I didn't have a head off a working motor, but that I had one from a gti-r motor that we were parting out. He's spouting off about how much money he had in the car and all this jaz. I explained that I had never ran the motor, but I could take the head off and he would get all the shims and cams with it. I think I sold it for $300 or $600 (as this was well over 1 year ago). He thought that was great and bought it. I can't remember if he paid with paypal or a check. I shipped it. He got it (I assume) Didn't hear anything. Then a while later he called and said something like his mechanic could slide nickels under the head because it was warped. I explained how decking the head is common to do on used heads, and that when you bolt a head down, the warping that you visually see normally goes away, but that I would see what we could do (although it was a used head and I had never used it) THIS GUY NEVER CALLED BACK, THAT'S RIGHT NEVER CALLED BACK. I don't give a f*ck what you claim about calling and not getting through. We have 2 lines. I have always had at least one with an answering machine. Now this kid might have called back with one of those unprofessional messages, you guys know the kind "hey, I (static) need to talk to you, (static) call me). Well, if you did that, then not much I can do about this. I NEVER HEARD FROM THIS GUY AGAIN. THAT'S RIGHT, NEVER. I want you to stop this sh*t about me not contacting you and avoiding you. YOU ARE FULL OF IT. The next time I see anything about this, (which is now over a year ago) is when he has some health problems from his daughter and he and Andreas are internet chaps or something. Some of you know the posts/tag-team proposals we are talking about. Jimmy, if you had acted correctly and in a timely matter, this could have been prevented. Although, I find it unusual that it surfaces now. Take some advice from me. GET UP OFF YOUR *SS AND TRY TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS, NOT TRY TO CREATE MORE PROBLEMS WITH ME. You could aid from writing out a list of things that should be solved or attention given to. Prioritize them on a basis of priority. Make a list of 10. If trying to punk me out and make up stuff about this is on that list, then PICK UP THE PHONE and call me. You tell me over the phone, what you want from me, provide me with what you CLAIM is wrong, and try to solve this like an adult. The next post that you make on this forum about this without contacting me, only gives more evidence to your lack of substance to this, more reasons to think you are making this up, and shows your immaturity. I find it pecular that with your current situation that you are able to be on a forum at all.

3. Yes, for $200, I will make piping that is reduction bent and use an intercooler supplied by the customer. Also, for $800, we will make mandrel bent piping and supply an intercooler. I don't see where making $200 piping that the customer wants, warrants you to say you can make better piping. That is what the customer opted for. You name the customers, and I'll put a special page on the website, title it, and show our $200 piping compared to your better piping. Send the pictures of your work to sales@jgycustoms.com with your contact info.
I would also like to show our mandrel piping on the same page though if you don't mind.

I have purchased many parts for my project from JGYCustoms over the last 4 months. In that time I have:

o ALWAYS been able to reach someone by phone. Once, I got an answering machine, but my call was returned PROMPTLY.

o ALWAYS have had my e-mail responded to.

o ALWAYS received my parts in a timely manner.

In addition they have ALWAYS accomodated my requests for CUSTOM work. My experience has been just the opposite of those that I see posting negative comments. So, is it the vendor or the buyer Regardless, JGYCustoms gets a big thumbs up from me. They are hard workers and take care of their own responsibilities. When you bash, you are bashing their livelihood. Would you want the same thing done recklessly to you ?

I have spent well over $4000 with JGY in the last year and I have only had good luck with them, Jason has been very helpful. When I bought my motor I did go and pick it up. So I did get to meet him. Very nice guy for a "southerner". I am still buying from him and alwas will.
Thanks Jason
I do hope to have my car on the road by spring this year

you want some of me then we can do just that. you better wake up and see what your saying. i am merely saying my opinion of how you did business with me. you ducked phone calls and e mails. there is no point in trying to resolve any sale that occured a year ago, cause you wouldn't at the time it happened. you don't believe me. then call tempest motorsports and ask them. jason kinida laughed when he said the head was no good. you could tell by the burnt smell when the valve cover was opened. i scrapped the head cause it was unrepairable. there is only so much planing you can do to a head in hopes of repairing it. i called and left e mails. i even called from tempest after it came back from the machine shop and found out it was no good. so don't blame your shotty salesmanship on me. you were just born that way.

now you wanna bring andreas into the whole thing. that is a different beef you and him have if there is any. he goes out of his way to help a friend, and forum member. what did you do for the general public lately?

I've delt with jgy on one occasion, although it was not the greatest transaction (I backed out of a topspeed header), I still left it feeling good about how jgy delt with it. They have always picked up the phone, and returned emails promptly. I hope to deal with them again at some point, hopefully not buying a motor to replace a blown one, but that happens.

Jason is one of my favorite SR20 vendors. I've spent about $3k with him now over the last two years I think. Every time I've dealt with him every e-mail I've sent to him got answered (very promptly) and he answered all my phone calls. I recommend him to people when they ask about stuff and that says alot.

Wanna see dedication?

He got down and dirty working on my car for a job that I think he underestimated how dirty and long it was, but never quit, did it right, and charged me exactly what he originally quoted me. Awesome!

Hmm, did i say i made better piping than you, nooo......
i just stated that you fomer customer was not happy with the work you performed, no matter how much it cost........so for $800 i can get a good mandrel bend piping, and for $200 i can get something that's bent, crushed and mangled, sorry, a little more professionalism should have been used, and as far as the customer is concern, i will not disclose his name or info with out his permission........ethics man hello!!

Wow, something just drew me in here like a black hole! I have had great transactions and great product delivered from JGY in all my past dealings, BUT i must say, sean answering the phone has bugged me and my friend John immensly. When I want to talk to you Jason, I want to talk to YOU. Not give him a full run down of the topic and reasoning behind it. I have had 3 trannies and 3 motors ordered through you along with fueling and oem parts and that relationship was developed due to mutual respect, I hope. I just want that same respect today, instead of the shop noob telling me what is what.

I await John's tranny with anticipation as I know it will come in the great shape the rest of my orders have come in, and the new motor should be at my doorstep tomorrow! Pics will be posted.

ok. i didnt say im trying to get a refund or somthing. i am just dissapointed in the kind of business you run. there was nothing directly wrong with the products. so there was not much i could say. pictures were NOT sent to me. that is just not true. there was a link to a SINGLE picture wich i have found:YES, THATS THE PICTURE HE SHOWED ME.
did i say the BOV was missing? no. i said the bolts were missing, maybe you should read my complaint before defending yourself. nothing that was rong was the fault of UPS. and yes you described the piping as in good condition. you also said it could reliably support 17 psi. i would not run 17 psi through this IC to save my life, i am very supprised it does not leak.

now think about this: i am a full time student, AND i work 50+ hours a week. when i purchased these items, i was not as educated as i am now. for a while i thought i could work with what i had. but the more i examined the dammage, the more i realized this would not be reliable with my setup. and noone can tell me that it was not like that when it was shipped. the box was wet, but deep inside where the cardboard was wrapped around the IC, it was dry and in perfect condition. the IC is fu*kING CRUMBLING from corrosion. corrosion from heat and age.

it is true that i should have said somthing in the beginning, but i didnt realize all the problems in the beginning. i am not asking you to do anything at all, i just dont think thatthere should have been a problem to begin with. you should describe items as they really are. and sell them for what they are worth.

i also do not appreciate the condecending manner in wich you speak to bothe jimmy and i. nor do i appreciate you bringing Andreas into everything, the man has nothing to do with it. and it seems like you bring his name up a lot.

i just hope that people think twice about buying from you in the future without DETAILED pictures and descriptions.

thank you to anyone who read all of my post.

will.

Good lord, thank you, we ain't the only muthafu*kas around here with issues like this. I can understand both sides and as far as a vendor goes it's hard to do business with people who are ignorant... not pointing any fingers. Selling used parts is hard because you can't always be sure the part is fully functional. But we as vendors have to notify consumers about or used parts and they have to understand they might have to fix some things. I know as far as JGY and our website states there is no warranty on used parts and even with that said we still help folks out and replace fu*ked up units. I think we need to quit bein' cheap asses and realize that modifying and vehicle isn't goin' to be easy especially Turbo.
JGY like I said, THANK YOU for having problems like us because you were makin' us look bad for a while. LMAO

PEACE
Josh
