Rom editor sticky

Uh, I'll change the name of this thread and add text tomorrow night, hopefully. This is a place holder.

Rom editor installer:
http://www.calumsult.com/calumsu/romeditor19848e.zip

Rom editor englishized exe:
http://www.calumsult.com/calumsu/rom%20editor.exe

Notes on how to make Rom editor look right:
"I figured it out, go to control panel -> regional and language options. Then click on the advanced tab and in the first pull down box, it will say something like "Language for Non-Unicode programs" in blue at the top. From the pull down list select Japanese. Click ok and it will then say you need to restart your computer, restart it and the program should look like the picture. It worked for me and I hope it will for you guys having problems." _also_ download "japanese for non-unicode programs" if japanese unicode isn't already installed.

Quick guide to rom editor:

B14 ??? adr file:

Go to the regional and language menu click on the languages tab and check the box next to Install files for East Asian languages. After all files are installed (you may be prompted to insert your windows CD to copy files from) you should then have the option to select Japanese from the pull down menu on the advanced tab.

Just as a side note, I found that some sites that use Java don't work when I set Japanese as the language for non-Unicode programs. You just have to change it back to English and reboot.

I thought this might be useful to someone someday.

Is there a post that spells this procedure out? I swear I've read all the posts in the contributer's area and it's still not clear to me. Did I miss a post?

For a B13/S13 (91-93):

Set both fuel maps to all 1s, except the last couple of columns (leave those at something over 30, it doesn't really matter what). Set your TTPmin to all 0. Start the car. If it is waaaay rich adjust your k-number down. Remember, in rom editor the k-value is in hex (123456789ABCDEF). I like working with nice even numbers, like 8000, and jumping 1000 at a time to start. Adjust until the car will start with no problems. Let the car idle and warm up to temperature. Adjust until when you free rev the car to ~3k its close to 14.7:1. Now let it idle, and ajust the latency until the idle is ~14.7:1. Drive the car (do not get on boost or let the engine get loaded up). Adjust until cruising the car is at 14.7:1. Now paste back in a 'normal' fuel and timing map. Now either guesstimate your TP scales based on your injector size change (this actually works pretty decently) or trace the map and set your upper TP value at a somewhat low boost value (~4psi). Also set your TTPmin to scaled values. Now just adjust your last column (upper TP value) for the timing and fuel curve you want under boost and your done.

For a '94 B13 and B14s, its the same as the above but set the map to 128.

Its a tedious process, but you only have to do it once. Also, with the closed loop turned on you really only have to get it 'close', the ecu will (and does) adjust it from there.

Not directly. JWT uses a daughterboard with a 'scrambled' rom. If you know what your doing you can defeat this. Its easier to just dump the rom from the JWT ecu and move it to a generic style daughterboard, like mine.

I get that also, but only when I try to open it by using the desktop icon. It works fine when I choose to open it from the start menu.
