calumsult rom dumping

does calumsult specifically pause during a rom dump to write out to file, or does it write out to file when there is an error or something it has to recover from?

in dumping with 0.8b, i see it pause for 5s at a time, maybe 10 times - i notice at the same time the file size of dumped file increases (as if buffer is flushed or whatever). so im wondering if this is due to an error in transmission, or if this is calumsult actually stopping dumping momentarily while it writes out the next bit of file?

No, it writes to the file as it dumps. If its pausing then thats it catching an error and recovering. If it hangs completley you can restart from where it errored out.

Use the older version for rom dumping btw, not 0.8b, it is more stable. The old version should be able to do an entire dump with no errors every time. There's a long story there, but thats the short of it.

Cool. I changed it to a 10k pull-up. Looking at it with a scope, its a much slower edge (still plenty fast enough) but lets the '0' down a bit farther.

yeh, i was gonna mention the 2k or whatever was on the beta tester box was too low - the low levels would be close to 2V and might be on the edge of the acceptable low of ur 4093 IC.

i think i arrived at 6k8 (on the 23710-52f00 ecu i used for testing) as the width of the logic 1 was closest to the proper length (100us or whatever it was) on the output of the HC14.

6k8 gave around 1.2V low which is the min guaranteed threshold for the ST 74HC14 chip im using. might want to bump it up to 8k2(~1.1v) or 10k(1v) if i use a more generic chip (some have lower min thresholds).

posted some osciloscope results here: http://eccs.hybridka.com/viewtopic.php?t=292

How do you know when the dump is complete, I tried to dump my ecu you and accoding to the display bar it stopped when it was 3/4 complete. Did that mean it was finished or an error occured?
