Pardon me. The "snip the wire" refers to a 91 S13 with a KA24DE(T) manual trans. :-)
It effects nothing else. We shift BEFORE (or right at) 6500 rpm anyway.....
ur original car probably didnt have one so u need to get a female one and wire it into ecu (assuming its a consult capable ecu...think all sr20s are, even early u12?)
and here's pins for the connector - they should be found on the ECU somewhere (TX, RX, CLK, and ign/gnd can be any ignition switched source): http://www.ecutalk.com/images/consult_car.jpg
Thanks.. wow, I forgot I even posted that question! lol
I've got it wired and Calumsult working on my old laptop. My new(er) laptop wont seem to connect to the ecu.. I've tried all the port choices (USB) and nogo.. ARG..
u cant tune ur car with consult (but u can help tune ur car by monitoring it with consult).
like quikxr said, ud probably want to use a combo, as no software does everything (or does it the best):
nissan datascan ($25) - for map tracing, active tests, most things
ecutalk - best for logging if u want to analyse later
calumsult - for rom dumping, real-time graphs
if the car isnt running right due to a fault, find and fix the fault
if its not running right cause you need a remap (eg bigger turbo, injectors, changed AFM, etc), then you might one of calum's ecus or similar daughterboard/remapping setup
well as a tech at nissan I have a 94 p10 and i use consult 11 to scan b13 nd s13 and p10 just fine. But evry car sold as 2000 + requires the use of the converter cable useing the new white conector instead of grey consult port conector
Consult doesn't make any permanent changes, only temporary and you can only change things globally, ie throughout the whole rev range and not shaped like the SAFC-II
like Mark said, consult based or piggie backed things dont make perminate changes
an installed daughterboard is what you want for tuning. considering you are in NH, you can talk with Greg Amy and the guys at Bishop Motorsports in CT on how to tune with the Calum Realtime ECU.
so it would be beneficial to use the safc2 with the calum software?
all current consult programs are only good for monitoring and diagnostics - thats their purpose. ive no idea what you mean by beneficial - beneficial to what/who? consult would help in tuning the safc2, but safc2 doesnt help in using consult
