I found this car at a local salvage yard and it had been rearended and was pushed into someone else. The rear was pretty ugly but no frame damage. The front just needed a new bumper and bumper cover, and 1 foglight. It had 116K miles on it and at the time i was driving a ga16 powered sentra. I bought this car and fixed the slighlty damaged front, pushed the trunk back out and replaced the bumper and broken bumper cover with a 98 style. Both front and rear bumper have not been painted and I kept getting a CEL for cylinder #1 misfire. I replaced wires, sparkplugs, cap, rotor, o2 sencor and had the ignition checked. The CEL was cleared but about an hour later came back on for the same problem. It does not appear to be misfiring, or if it does, very rarely. It feels just as powerful as it should be but with that said, the car does have a salvage title and would probably be better for a great parts car for someone who wants to modify their clean titled b-14 with all the parts this car has on it since its a great price for all the parts it does have.
Just to describe all differences from its stock form and how it sits today:
*stripped from b pillars back to the trunk. I have the black interior trim pieces that go around the B and C pillar but they are not installed.
The mounting hardware for the rear seats is MIA but i have the black interior pieces that go behind the rear seats seperating the trunk, and the back and bottom parts of the seats themselves.
*I have all black seatbelts for the car in a box that will be included, but they were all removed and for the front seats they have black corbeau 4 pt harnesses instead
*Some interior pieces, including around radio bezel, window/lock switches on the passenger side, passenger side A pillar, and the trim piece around the guages have been painted blue.
* Center console has been slightly modified and doesn't look that great anymore
(round civic Ractive c/f materialy shift boot was retrofitted to b-14 console-would be best to replace with stock b-14 console and leather boot again)
*My friend put a nice dent in the passenger side door
*Front corner lenses painted. Was going to replace them someday anyway because the bracket on passenger side is broken from the accident. The headlight bracket on passenger side is broken as well but I drove the car 2 years with them just sitting in place. They never fall out and I just never got around to it
Now for the good things it can be used for.
*Syndicate Kustomz Carbon fiber hood
*Syndikate Kustomz c/f trunklid (but it doesn't open. Needs a little adjusting on the trunklatch (whoops- wasn't important to me) )
*S.k. c/f fenders
(The c/f lip and grill shown in pics have been sold. It has stock 96 grill on it now)
*Had to remove the sideskirts when installing the fenders. The passenger side didn't want to stay on after that and wasn't on for the pictures but I do have it and have some double sided tape to remount it. (factory used adhesive to help it stay on as well so, no that's not ghetto rigging it)
*it also has a nice silver and c/f shiftknob threaded onto a shortened stick and c/f bezel infront of the guages.
*new clutch
This has been the most dependable car I have ever owned. Only left me stranded one time and that was when the clutch arm broke. I went ahead and had aamco replace the whole clutch since that needed to be fixed (i was supposed to get a hookup from a friends parents but they ended up charging an arm and leg...f'ers) so the new oem clutch probably only has about 300 miles on it. The engine now has about 154K on it but it sure gets around and has had regular oil changes and, the things replaced as mentioned in the beginning of the thread. Will make a great parts car for anyone doing an sr20 swap or simply looking to continue my project. I think $2K is reasonable considering all the spendy carbon fiber parts still on the car and it is a running, legal, sr20 powered b-14.
Im online atleast a few times a week so feel free to ask questions and i will get back to ya in the next couple days probably. Document of the damage, repair, and modifications here at its cardomain page, as well as some more pics:
