FS: 1995 VW Golf GTI 2.0

The time has come to sell this car. This will mark the first time since 1978 that we have not had a VW in the family. I love this car, but it is time to move on to bigger better things. I am located in New Jersey in the same down Six Flags Great Adventure is in. I am willing to drive the car to meet you, I'll drive up to an hour to show it.

Original owner, 145,000 miles, Alpine White, 5 speed, moonroof, 2.0 liter engine, 14" Orlando wheels with good Dunlop SP Sport A2 tires, AM/FM Cassette 8 speaker stereo, bone stock except for 2.25" custom catback (I pieced the exhaust system together, new cat, 24" Dynomax Thrush glasspack for a resonator, Dynomax UltraFlo muffler). It looks stock, and from inside the car, it sounds stock with the windows up, no droning.

The Good: New clutch at 112,000 miles, it just gave up the ghost for no reason. The car has never been raced, my mom put on all 145,000 miles, 50 miles a day since August 1994 when we got the car. After the 2 year 24k mile warranty was up, I have done almost all service on the car. New front brakes were installed about 1.5 years ago (rotors, pads), along with new Bosch plugs, new wires, cap and rotor, and air filter. A/C blows ice cold. The radiator fan died about 2 years ago, but that was replaced before the car ever overheated. The timing belt and all other belts were replaced around 70K by the dealer. Stock axles/CV joints. CV boots are still intact, it shows how light we are on the car. Up until 1999, this car was garaged 22 hours of the day....my mom parked in a garage at work and at night when she got home. In 1999 I took over one bay in the garage for my car work, and the other side was donated to my dad's garage queen, Lexus SC300. I have all receipts. The car has good inspection, good until 10/2005 if I remember correctly. I have a brand new pair of front Brembo rotors that will go with the car.

The Bad: Small ding on the rear passenger fender. I had my dogs in the car once and some nosey shopper at the shopping center hit it with a shopping cart trying to peer in and see the dogs while I ran into the store for a drink. My mom hit a deer a few years back. One headlight was replaced, so its clearer than the other. The hood, fenders, and grill were replaced and there is the slightest color difference. A good buff will bring the rest of the paint up to par. The suspension is a goner, it wallows over bumps and it rattles because of worn bushings. The rubber exhaust hangers stretch when the exhaust system gets hot, and the exhaust starts banging around a bit on hard acceleration. The motor eats one quart of oil per oil change. No blue smoke, no leaks. Just a slow burn. Oh, and one fog light is out. I have the new bulb, I just never put it in.

Synopsis: This car is basically turnkey. The car is mechanically sound except for the suspension, which I would recommend upgrading. Everything works. The interior is clean, never smoked in. The body is clean, no dings except for the one on the fender. This car has been loved for the last 10 years. When I had the car in for the timing belt change, the mechanic said it was quite possibly the cleanest car he has seen in a while, for the age.

I want this car to go to a good home. KBB value for "good" is about 3600, "excellent" is about 3900. I would like to get 3600 for the car, although I will entertain offers that don't severly lowball me. Email me for pictures: cjrsysantos AT optonline DOT net

Give me a phone number and name, and I'll call you if you like (free long distance ). Have a good one!!

Re: FS: 1995 VW Golf GTI 2.0

Maybe the price is varying by region, I dunno. EDIT: Maybe not, I check the KBB private party value for Wisconsin and its still coming up with 3550. Where are you getting this from, honeybizkit??
