Horrendous squeak from front right.

So the car developed a terrible squeak in the front right corner a week ago. SO bad that just moving around in the car gets some noise out of it, while PARKED!

Car is a 91 SE-R, KYB AGX on all 4 with ground control coilovers installed properly.

Upon removal of the front right strut, without unbolting it, the metal that is bonded to the isolator rubber simply sell off! Apparantly the rubber completely seperated from the metal. Could this be the cause? The metal inside the rubber, not contacting the metal "dome"??

See pic for better description.

It's possible. I've seen something similar before on other cars. Have you tried taking it all the way apart yet?

Yeah, finally took everything apart. Turns out i blew the strut mount for sure. Also had 2 munched strut bearings. Turns out the PO installed the coilover spring hats under the factory hats. This chewed the hole in the GC hat to almost 1/4" lorger than it should be, placing all the stress on the bearings alone.

So.

-2 bad spring hats
one bad strut mount
-2 bad strut bearings
full set of worn out brake shims=brake pad rattle
-one FROZEN, then sheared off caliper slide bolt, took an acetaline torch and 8 tons of hydraulic pressure to remove from bracket.

So, about $350 later, I finally solved both the squeak, and the rattle from the front right! Had a completely stuck caliper! ANd a blows strut mount!

Newer vehicles are so fragile...
