need to know if anyone has good experiences with the energy suspension bump stops on their b13 with agx's. reason is because i need two complete sets, totalling 8 for my two b13. energy suspension ones would be only 60 plus shipping for all 8, while the koni's will be roughly 160 or so plus shipping. a third of the price for two sets, but are they a third of the performance of the koni's?
I'm rusty on my standard damper info, but I believe you only need Konis in the front due to the limited suspension travel in the front. The rear is not as bad.
You said you are running AGX, but with what spring setup? That will dictate your decision more.
In my case, I will be running 380 F & 350 R on my NX teamed with shorted Koni's. Based on what I was told, my springs will coil bind before my dampers bottom out - so I'm running ES bumpstops.
I do have Koni's on the front of my AGX/Hyperco 2 setup that is on the car now. For standard lowering springs I would run Koni's in the front - that's my $0.02.
running agx with road magnets. i know the koni bump stops are the best choice, but wanted to know if the energy suspension ones are good also. like i said, only a third of the price of the koni's.
Not even close. I would use oem rubber before I spent a dime on ES bumpstops. ES is hard rubber. Some of the OEM are nice foam. Shoot, a lot of VW oem stuff is way better then ES and nearly free at a self pull place. Nissan-VW and others have all used a foam bumpstop at one time or another. Koni is a nice NEW foam bumpstop. ES is hard rubber/urethane (whatever it's hard). Nissan used a rubber bumpstop on my 98 but I have seen some oem B13/Maxima stuff that is actually pretty nice. Get Koni or junkyard some foamish stuff from a junkyard.
Also if you choose ES cut a V into the section that would hit the damper. That way it can't create a vacuum and force air into the damper or suck air out of the damper. Koni supplies the discs with its shocks/struts to prevent this from happening but AGX doesn't.
If you have a ton a travel the Koni Bumpstops are extra icing on the cake. But any drop spring with a AGX can really benifit from the Koni Bumpstops. Of course for the price of the bumpstops you can just Skip AGX's and get Koni's and shorten them yourself. Then you wouldn't need the bumpstops unless you like the icing

So THAT'S what those are. For shame KYB, for shame.

And pack dirt into the seals and even push it all the way into the damper itself.
Sorry haven't read thread before. EVERYBODY swears by the koni stops. I personally (B13 VE, Hypercos, AGX, Progress bars, Stillen front & AT rear braces, AD22vf's, nx2k bias valves, 205-40/16's) used the AGX boot/stop pieces on the front. I'm kinda prone to keeping things together for along time, liked COVERING the rods. Duh. I'm an inch shorter than stock Hypercoils (LONG discussion with the engineer who designed the Hypercos), so I find the stops even with front AGX set at 3 with some regularity. The AGX stops work JUST fine, thank you very much. AND they keep the crap off the rods.

In your shortravel setups a bumpstop becomes a extension of the primary spring. You will hit it. Difference becomes how progressive/hard the transition is from the main spring to the bumpstop. Koni are softer and ramp up to the end of travel in a smoother fashion.
