Another Suspension Clunk thread....

Sorry guys, I know it's been run over and over, but I just got done Road magneting and agxing my car and I get a clunk in the FRONT, along with some pulling to one side after the clunk. I counter steer and get a clunk again and its fine...

Should I just re-tighten the bolts first off to see if I missed anything? I saw the heater hose thing, Might do that, BUT I also got 100% new everything for spring/strut install... including, but not limited to new "seats" for the sping to sit in on the, and thrust bearings.

Thanks all

You need to make sure the top bolt is tight. If it's not then you need to get it tight. I know you not supposed to use a impact gun but I have used them once I get the bolt as tight as possible by hand and then it starts to spin. I give it a quick hit with a impact and that sets the bolt. Take it to a shop if you don't want/cant do it yourself.

I agree with Steve. I jack up the car, take a thick towel and a pair of channel locks and hold the shaft of the strut while I hit it with the impact. I have done this on every suspension I have had in the car and it works perfectly.

Prefer to skip the towel and just hit it once when it's on the ground. The weight of the car has as much impact on holding the shaft from spinning as the wrench. If you use a wrench get some heater hose first.

Also, make sure the arrow on the top is pointing OUT on the upper spring seat. IT should point towards where the spindle would bolt on. I had a problem where it would clunk when I turned, untill I re-set these arrows correctly.

Is the top bolt you all are talking about, the bolt that holds the shock rod to the top hats (or whatever they are called)?
I put my tein ss's on a while back and have done everything to remedy that issue...this sounds like what i need to do to fix it.
