Good source for front spindle B14 new/used?

Coles notes: Need a spindle that is good for a decent price.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the feeling these cars are weak in terms of design when it comes to the front hub/bearing/spindle assemblies. This is my only complaint (other than the noisy Hitachi starter that I replaced a few years back).

I replaced the front bearing with the aid of a press with a new Nissan one, and sure enough, it seems the front spindle bearing seat is worn and the outer race dances in there (you can shake the wheel as if it's loose) - the tie rod, ball joint, and strut mounts are good, and the bearing was tightened to the right torque.

I am a bit afraid of buying a used one and it not being good, etc., i.e. don't know if they test them (used parts places), but I guess some places warranty them? I called a local dealer and got a price of around $350-450 CAN (which is the same as US now) and nearly sh*t my pants. I'd like to buy new for peace of mind, ut would need a good source where shipping would be justified. BTW, would the dealer price include the hub and bearing? Sorry for the long post...

Da*n! Just bought one used yesterday for $60 CAN plus tax. It does come with a 30 day warranty, but one cannot compare with new, especially considering how well the $CAN is doing.

Funny thing is, I was on Greg's site and didn't see it. I guess he can get other stuff not listed too.

Some people are claiming huge miles out of wheel bearings on our cars. They can't be much worse than most cars from the time.

Contamination issues have run me through a lot of wheel bearings. A tear in one of my G20's front wheel seals let water and grime into the bearing and killed it in short order. Also, my '92 SE-R was missing dust caps over the rear bearings when I bought it, and I went through several sets none the wiser.

I also had a front hub fall off the SE-R when I unbolted the axle nut. This was at 180k miles, after years of autocross, street, and trackday abuse. No seal wear, so I can only point to age and hard use. Fortunately, I had bought some spindles and hubs off a junkyard 1.6L B13 Sentra and rebuilt them with fresh bearings and seals a few months prior.

I don't see the need to buy replacement front spindles unless you have bad gouges in the lips where the seals seat, or just want spares to rebuilt. If the bearing presses tightly into the spindle, it should be good to go, right?
