as far as i know, that type of cage will pass tech, that is if u welds are certified etc.
yesterday i was sitting at a local shop, and there was a built focus, that had an 8 point cage, and i was asking questions about what meets tech, and supposedly that type of foam wont meet spec? thats just what they tell me, but u have to have a stiffer style foam, and they race a sh*t load of autox, road racing, time attack, and landspeed

maybe i should just get it inspected as is then ask the guy if cages would pass. i probly could pass it with a cage *** my dad has been friends with this guy for a while but id rather not push it unless i knew i would pass for certain

when u find out, ask the guy about some regulations on cages and post them
I think there are 2 diff't conversations occurring in this thread.
The original poster wanted to know if a roll bar/cage will pass his state safety inspection - I assume for license renewal, etc.
The other question is what type of foam will pass a safety inspection by a racing body.
It appears the original poster got his answer. As far as the foam, I think that is a better question for the tech inspector for what you want to do. When my roll bar was installed, my builder recommended the SFI (?) foam and not the cheaper foam as the SFI is denser (and more $$$).

Usually there is still a thickness requirement on the foam depending on sanctioning body. I am pretty sure that SFI is not sufficient in the head impact areas for SCCA.
