I can attest to the fact that they suck, and customer service is below par. I blew one up just autocrossing in the 4th month I had them. They did eventually replace it, but now I'm stuck with them until I finish my turbo build. I punched myself in the face because I didn't get teins, and now I want the koni setup eitherway... you live and you learn Ksports FTL

^I just got through making a post in the AGX group buy thread about getting rid of my Ksports.............I am 100% sure that I will NOT KEEP them.......I haven't even mounted them on the car. They are brand new used, but they will be up for sale soon..........
Now I will need another set of AGX's with the un-infamous Gen2 Hypos if I can find them for my street car project.
I love both "the best bang for the buck" and a "performance bargain."
The point on the graph where your hard earned dollars maximize their expenditure in positive returns.
However, a sh*tty product is no bargain whatsoever. It is a waste of money entirely. And I sure don't want to put any product on my car that is not up to the quality of OEM, will jeopordize the performance, or have a sub-par mean-time before breaking. That is just pissing money away.
Once again, thanks for the post. I think this thread should be noted in another thread. One that could use an update or two anyways.
Well I must say this thread has been a huge help for me, time to start researching coilovers again, any suggestions you guys could make on a good brand to look at?
it's not a brand, but CSK's (custom shortened koni's) some people live by this these, and I really really want to get some/build some after my turbo setup. Steve who bent the beam on my b14 highly suggests this setup, and he knows what he's talking about. Oh, and read this http://www.sr20forum.com/driveline-t...formation.html then search.

I say what you buy depends on what your doing. For me I think all of the Tein, K-sport, Megan, stuff is not the best value. Certainly Tein has higher QC than perhaps Ksport and Megan but there are other trade offs with their stuff. For me short of stepping in to the big leagues of a custom bilstein, penske, or GC advance design setup; the ONLY coilover setup I would use is one that involves Koni Yellow's. Koni QC is good and their adjustments work pretty close to how you think they should which the same cannot be said for the Tein stuff etc.....
Again this depends on what you are doing, if you want to lower your car for looks and are not concerned with performance for competition using the Tein Basics is fine, anything beyond that I would seriously be considering Koni's.
I have heard all this bad press on the ksport coil overs on this forum, but just received a PM from someone racing with them on (an has for a whild) and hasn't had the bad experience that has been reported by some on this board.
The fellow who has the group by says he has sold almost 400 sets and has had 2 with problems.

It's all so confusing..
I have personally owned 2 sets, and worked on numerous cars with them. Will they support the car...Yes. Are they worth owning....absolutely not. Both of the ones I owned went bad soon after purchase, and in the garbage. What good is a warranty that you get back the same garbage you already took off. (I had one of the first ones that came over, and the second came with a car I purchased)
They are a nightmare to drive, unless you enjoy spending as much time in the air as on the pavement.
Main issue that you run into with KSport, D2, etc is that people are not knowledgable enough to know any different. These types of products are typically the first people own, and only experience they have is a stockish setup. "Only had 2 with problems" is a relatively statement for the reason above.
IMO it's basically Koni or nothing for this chassis. The Progress are ok as well, if you don't need adjustability.
I'm sorry I didn't copy everyone else's setup. If you need a preacher to tell you what mods to put on your car, the Reverend Veilside180sx might have a suggestion.

From the shock dyno info. I have seen all of the popular Japanese product is all over the board on the shock dyno. This is what the post on NICO is alluding too. It is also the basis for my above post where I generalized all of the items I listed as junk. In a nutshell what good is an adjustable suspension when all 4 of your dampers are different in force and adjusting them does not necessarily do what you want it to but rather serves as a band aid to try and get all 4 closer together and often times there is not enough adjustment to get them close together.
Koni is not perfect but there QC offers dampers that are usually pretty close in force, enough to make a usable suspension.
As Veilside pointed out many of the popular suspensions WORK in acting as a suspension and offer a performance improvement over stock, however that does not make them good or a good value.
I agree with veilside about suspension choices (as usual).

I am going to agree with veilside and Wes (as usual ), because they both know about a gazzilion times more than I do about everything mechcanical, including suspensions.
One caveat, if you are looking for cheapo, you can certainly mate up AGX's with Hyperco or RM springs, combined with Koni bumps. It is NOT as good as a set of CSK's with the same springs/bumpstops, but it ain't bad. However, that is about as inexensive as you can get, and still have a reasonably good, performance oriented daily-driver, autocross suspension. Both Kojima and Dave Coleman gave this set-up their "stamp of approval" in SCC for an inexpensive, budget oriented, suspension. And yes, it is more expensive that K-sports or D2's.
I own AGX, Hyperco Gen II, Koni bumps, AT RSTB, Cusco FSTB, Progress RSB, Superpro caster bushings, OEM dustboots, B14 wheels, and ES100's. Not a real "serious" suspension but very workable and acceptable for a daily driver. A tremendous improvement over stock, and bottoms out less than stock.
IF I had the funds, and perhaps additional foresight, patience, and knowledge, I would have saved for CSK's. That is really the only upgrade that I want to do to my suspension at this point (plus an IKEA brace). Taking me from a "good" and very servicable daily driver set-up, to an "excellent" daily driver set-up. No question about it in my mind....CSK's > AGX, any day of the week.
Funds permitting, someday Steve or veilside will be building me a set of CSK's.
